Help Buy Me A Coffee

« Weekend roundup | Main | What do these two have in common? »

It's Monday, no, Tuesday

I HATE it when that happens.  I lost a whole day.  Every time it's a Monday holiday, I'm thrown for a loop.

I did nothing special today. Washed clothes, went to the grocery for milk, bread and juice.  Played outside with Emma and Riley.  I haven't had much of an opportunity to play outside with them, and it was nice to just have time to spend with them.  They invented a new game, one Emma called, "Mama, COUNT!".  Basically, they stood back by the fence........Swinging_004

and when I said "three!" they launched themselves towards the swings and landed on their bellies.  Swinging_006

Riley swings in therapy, and it's one of her favorite activities.

She grabs the ground with her toes and pushes off, and she can swing quite high.  She's pretty pleased to be able to do it.  (yes, Ginger, that's your daughter's outfit.  It's her favorite - I swear I'll mail it soon!)

So, I missed Monday.  It passed in a blur of work.  Labor day has gone, all local schools have started.  Now fall is officially here. I wish the thermometer would catch up to the calendar, but it will.  I know that in a few weeks, I might very well complain about the homework, the routinues, the Saturdays full of soccer.  Not yet.  The thrill of the beginning of the school year is still fresh.

My big project is coming slowly.  Veddy, Veddy sl-ow-ly.  But I'm still moving in a forward creep, so that's good.  I'm pleased to say that I have worked out a few times, and I didn't die, so I guess that means I need to keep it up.  I really hate working out.  I love eating, though, so I've got to get a set pattern with the movement.

Tomorrow we have a checkup with the Neurodevelopment doctor, to check Riley's progress after three months of therapy.  Any questions I should ask?

And what is it with my big kids fighting?  I lost it tonight, and screamed at both of them.  I have HAD IT with the punching, the hair pulling, the slapping and the body slamming.  Allegra is actually more physical than Nikolas - he's more into the verbal onslaught.  I really hate when I act like a lunatic, but I can't seem to get it through their heads that the physical stuff isn't going to be tolerated.

Gak.  Augh.  I think this must be one of the most boring blog posts around.

Boring? LOL Nope. Don't be too hard on yourself. All moms lose it once in awhile, and you do have your hands full!

I enjoyed it:)
I think every mom acts like a lunatic. I know i have my moments.

I'm one day behind too this week which has made it very hard to keep track of what kid has gym today, or was it yesterday? Same goes with library.

One thing I do with my kids when they are really fighting is I make them sit together on the sofa and list 5 things they like about each other. They can't get up and do anything else until they've done that in a sincere way and they have to list 5 things. If they can't seem to do that I then mention that they will be forced to give each other a hug and kiss afterwards. That usually gets my oldest motivated in the right direction very quickly, God forbid she has to hug or kiss her siblings.

Have a good day.

yeah, but the girls sure are pretty!

A question to ask the neuro-guy, "Since there is a marked improvement in Riley's progress, how can you help me to get my insurance company to cover her therapy? Can we change the diagnosis to something that IS covered under the insurance? I need your ingenuity to help Riley get what she needs!"

Yeah, I've been wondering about the insurance situation, too.

and by the way, MY blog is the most boring around. So there!

Nah, I think I have you all beat on boring blogs.

Carmen, Riley is so big! She is a girl now, not a baby, and beauitful to boot. And Emma is a doll baby. And I lose days too. Just last week, after the hurricane, I lost 3 days. I wnet from it being Wednesdayut o it being Saturday. When Daddy is home it screws us all up!

As for the big kids fighting, I sometimes consider duct taping their arms down and putting a swipe of it over their mouths. Sometimes I even threaten to tape them down. If I ever actually try it, I'll let you know how it works!

Hey girlie --

No problemo about the outfit! How cute that R likes it so much! It looks comfy -- My C loves her other outfit just like it. So cute & cuddly! And COOL for these hot summers!

Anyway - - just whenever, girlie.

Love to you guys.

About Me

  • WANTED, Carmen, mom to the Masses, for dangerous undertakings inside and outside the home. Last seen with her partner The Hubster, and six accomplices (Nikolas, 16, Allegra, 13, Mackenzie 11, Gabriel 8, Emma 6 and Riley, 4). This fugitive is considered armed (with epi pens and inhalers) and dangerous, especially when she hasn't had her morning coffee. She is particularly difficult to recognize due to a recent 80 pound weight loss (size 18-20 down to 2-4!), and has been known to hide beneath large piles of laundry. She's a fan of running races and can be found reading, lifting weights, practicing capoeira or running to the store for milk. ( Read more here.)
