National Delurking week

Delurk5 So, I'm a day late.  Garnish my wages, why don't you?

Does that include parsley?

I'm a day late cuz I've been a busy little mommy.  Emma's been sick, The Hubster's been off work.  Nik's been a jerk, the Christmas decorations are down, I've been running/walking for 9 days now. I've discovered that I can't eat diet foods - the South Beach and Healthy Choice frozen stuff isn't cutting it.  I'm a good cook, so I'm used to good tasting food, and I've found nothing else will satify.  So I'm eating less, rather than eating a bunch of lower taste fat stuff.  Other than some ice cream on Sunday when we were out to eat, I haven't had a sweet in 9 days.  I'm drinking skim milk in my vanilla latte, and three bottles of water each day.  Only one 12 ounce soda a day - this is a really hard one.

I made my reservations for Blogher this year - $75 for the room!  The school broke a water main and was closed yesterday - right after I dropped them off, I got the call to pick them up.  I'm writing every day - almost up to 20K - and it's either really good, or the worst tripe ever.  I can't decide.  I've got someone professional reading it for me - hi there, you know who you are! - and am on pins and needles waiting to hear her thoughts.

So, I've caught you up on my life - delurk and tell me what's new with you!

And thank you for all the lovely comments with regards to my blog.  I puffy heart all of you!

Wow! I'm first.
Congratulations on your exercise...I am jello. I need to get going myself.

I wonder if I would enjoy Blogher? I wouldn't know anyone...thinking, thinking.....

Have a great day.

Hi Carmen,

I've been reading your blog for a few months now and have finally decided to come out of the woodwork!

I really enjoy the stuff you post here, and it's definitely kept me coming back,

-Norma

I love your blog. I can so relate! I am so glad I found it a few months ago!

I am in the weight loss mode too! I haven't gone walking yet, but I have really cut down on how much I eat and I have lost about 8lbs. I have so much energy and want to walk, so I am dragging the hubby out for a late walk after the boys are in bed...

I am new here and now love your blog! I drink vanilla latte everyday-as a matter of fact I am drinking it now- but no milk. SOunds like you have a handful! I have 2 kids and they drive me crazy....but I am still going to have one more!

Have I delurked previously? I don't remember, but I've been reading for quite a while.

Hey Carmen, speaking of weight loss mode...me too. Check out my recent blogging, and also www.caloriequeens.com...very cool concept. I hope it works, cuz I could live like this for good.

Hi, Carmen! I love hearing about the life of someone who does more laundry than I do.

Delurking to say that I really enjoy your blog -- thank you for sharing it!

not a lurker (obviously) but still saying HI and I LOVE YOU! XOXO

*HUGE HUGS* I'm don't think I am a lurker..I think...commenting sporadically isn't lurking. Or is it?

I love your blog. Thanks for your honesty and letting it all hang out. :) I have four kids that we adopted and work from home (ha) and aspire to write. I also have a crappy blog that I never attend to.

You're fab and I plan to keep coming back. Also, thanks for the inspiration to get my ass out of the chair...

I totally agree with you on the diet food thing. I love to cook and I love good tasting food. I can't live without good food. About a year ago I decided to cut back. No seconds (that was a big toughie for me) and one pop a day. (I was drinking two or three a day.) I go for walks and basically focus on being healthy.

I started 2005 weighing 199 pounds. I started 2006 weighing 164 pounds. It has been slow road, but I feel I have more energy now. And the biggest reward came today. I put on a pair of size 14 jeans a friend gave me. Last year, I couldn't even zip them up. Today, they pulled on with ease, with breathing room in the waist and butt. (Doing another happy dance!)

Keep up with what you are doing. It has worked for me in the past year. I wish you all the best!!!

I've been reading ever since around the time you moved from the old location. I like your writing and your stories are funny!

Frozen diet foods are actually made of cardboard and sawdust. The trick is finding a way to cook yourself, and keep the rest of the gang happy! Something I just can't seem to do.

I always comment, but I'll say hello :-)

Reservations for Blogher... I wanna to go, too. When is it?

A girl can dream...

I enjoy your writing.

I think a *boxed* food every once in awhile (once - twice a year) won't kill you. I hardly think though that lean cuisine and such are made of sawdust ;P (though l.c. is made by evil nestle)
I tend to think one needs to relearn to cook - healthy/yummy foods. I am also cooking a most excellent meal (spicy/exotic - not kid-friendly :P) at least once a week for we grown-ups.

Tell us more about blogher!

Delurking in honor of the holiday and saying HI! Go to BlogHer and have a great time! Congrats on the healthy eating and exercise regimen.

In honor of national de-lurk week, (and because I'm a mom of 6 ANd a former dancer too) I'm saying hi!!

In honor of national de-lurk week, (and because I'm a mom of 6 AND a former dancer too) I'm saying hi!!

*waving hello*

I'm so excited you'll be at blogher. Seriously, anyone who is on the fence, or afraid of not knowing anyone - it's a wonderful mix of warm, supportive people. You will have the time of your life. If you can go to BlogHer, please do!

I'm delurking and telling you what's new. I've been named a finalist in the Best Mommy Blog category in the Best of Blogs contest. I'm sick, all the kids are sick, and I'm bored beyond belief. That's pretty much it.

Delurking, but I show up every day or so. I'm dealing with food sensitivities and possibly neurologically atypical kids. Oh yeah, and insurance. You give me hope, and a big smile. Keep up the good work! :-)

About Me

  • WANTED, Carmen, mom to the Masses, for dangerous undertakings inside and outside the home. Last seen with her partner The Hubster, and six accomplices (Nikolas, 16, Allegra, 13, Mackenzie 11, Gabriel 8, Emma 6 and Riley, 4). This fugitive is considered armed (with epi pens and inhalers) and dangerous, especially when she hasn't had her morning coffee. She is particularly difficult to recognize due to a recent 80 pound weight loss (size 18-20 down to 2-4!), and has been known to hide beneath large piles of laundry. She's a fan of running races and can be found reading, lifting weights, practicing capoeira or running to the store for milk. ( Read more here.)
