Mission Monday

Today is going to be a good day.  I just know it.

I'm thinking positively, here.

I do have a Mission for you, and it's a good one, I think.  Most of us are writers, yes?  Or we want to be, anyway.  This mission will help you refine your skills.  Creative writing can be difficult, and we all can use some practice.

During your rounds today, please fixate on one interesting person.  Find someone in your travels that you do not know.  The guy at the bus stop with the cup of coffee, the woman pushing the stroller, the old man in the dentist office.  I want to read a short story about that person.  Put yourself in their shoes, and make up a story about them.  It can be a thriller, a romance, or a sad tale.  Peel away the layers of the person - with as little or as much detail as you'd like - and let me see a bit of why the person is (or is not) who they appear to be.

Post it on your own blog, or leave it here in my comments. I'll post mine later in the week.   If you post it in your blog, invite others to play along!  Let's see if we can spread Mission Monday further than just my own site.

And, please, I'd really like some questions from you all for Topic Tuesday.  SheBear left a good one - regarding high protein, mess free lunches for the car - whew, can you ask me something easier to solve, like world peace?  She's going to get a copy of my running playlist, but I'd like to send out another cd.  Either of my running playlist or my little girls favorite music compilation, so leave me your topic suggestions, pretty please!

I'd like to second SheBear's suggestion. I don't have the car concern but I'm looking for ways to make the school lunches less carb-heavy.

I need to know how you get your kids to work. I keep changing job systems, and now that school is in, they don't really do any jobs. What's your current "system" and does it work for you? Do your kids get paid for jobs? An allowance? Or is it just their duty as members of the household to help out?

ok, i need a CD of your girls fave songs, but don't tell Nathan, the copyright freak, ok.

Questions for tomorrow, wow.
Lunch ideas are always welcome
Laundry. i know you've touched on this. How do you get it all done. What do your kids do with it? Do you sort by colors or by kid?

Hey, I love this idea. I'll work up a short story and post the link here.

I'd love to hear about how you handle laundry. I've got five people in the family, and a pretty good laundry routine, but even doing 3-4 loads a day, I'm always a bit behind.

Logistics?
When do you have the kids do their own?
How do you handle towels? Every day? Once a week?

I'd just like a list of your girls' favorite songs. :) Curious to see what they like.

I'm having trouble coming up with any inspiration on the writing, but I'll try. Of course, I haven't left the house in two days, so that does impede imagining things about people I see.

I did it! I have a little story posted at my blog:

Thanks for giving the inspiration! I've never done anything fictional on my blog, and this was a lot of fun!

About Me

  • WANTED, Carmen, mom to the Masses, for dangerous undertakings inside and outside the home. Last seen with her partner The Hubster, and six accomplices (Nikolas, 16, Allegra, 13, Mackenzie 11, Gabriel 8, Emma 6 and Riley, 4). This fugitive is considered armed (with epi pens and inhalers) and dangerous, especially when she hasn't had her morning coffee. She is particularly difficult to recognize due to a recent 80 pound weight loss (size 18-20 down to 2-4!), and has been known to hide beneath large piles of laundry. She's a fan of running races and can be found reading, lifting weights, practicing capoeira or running to the store for milk. ( Read more here.)

Send me some love!
