A new year, a new you
My favorite activity to bring in the New Year is the traditional changing over of the calendar. I spend an hour or so looking over the last year's calendar, and transferring the birthdays/anniversaries/special activities to the new, pristine calendar. It's sooo cool to me to see things like attempt first ever 5K way back in April of last year, and know that I'm going to do my SIXTH one tomorrow. I spend a minute or two thinking about each birthday as I write it in, and reminisce about that day and the person. Inevitably I realize that there are three birthdays in the first month and I'm unprepared.
I also really enjoy those "end of the year" recaps that all of the news programs show. Who died, who lived, who was pantiless and who adopted - I've always forgotten something and when I see it, it's as if it happened a few years ago.
I'm making only two resolutions for this year. 2006 was the year that I finally got it together enough to start - and more importantly KEEP - an exercise routine, and lose 50 pounds. My #1 resolution will be to keep last years. I've got a bit more weight to lose and I vow that I won't be the fat one again. I just WON'T.
Resolution #2 is to finish a manuscript and get it to an agent. To that end, on one of my writing lists, it's been suggested that, as November is NaNoWriMo - National Novel Writing Month - than January should be FinNo month - Finish Novel. Sounds good to me - I pledge to give it an honest effort.
I vow every year to be kinder to my family, and I'm thinking that, as far as goals go, that one might be ok to add as well. So, three goals for the year.
How about you? What are you planning? How will you help your wishes and desires come to fruition? If you vow to exercise, after all, it's easy to say "I'll get up at 5:30 and run!" and hard to do when it's cold and wet out. If you vow to patch up family troubles, how will you do so when the person you want to make up with spits on you? If you promise to become financially sound, what will you do when Coach has a huge handbag sale?
Do you have someone that you will be accountable to?
Do you need one?

I too have lost 50lbs and ideally should lose 10-15 more. Maybe being accountable to someone would help, as I live alone with two dogs - who are motivation for walking. My Ipod was stolen, and I just got a new one for Christmas, so that also will be more motivation to get out. My resolution? Probably to add running to my routine, as walking seems not to be doing enough. I have MS, and 2 years ago? Was using a walker, and running seemed an impossibility. Not so much now. Credit exercising for my newfound healthier body. That should be motivation enough.... fat+walker=MS'y. Exercise=Better, not as MS'y.

Sigh...Coach handbag sale...
Thats all I got out of that whole post. Sorry. You can't throw in those little gems at the end if you want me to remember anything you wrote before it.

I'd like some accountability- if you are interested, I've thrown my email address on here.
You have inspired me- and I need to lose weight for tranplant.
There. I've said it. To anyone reading.
Now. I need accountability.

We are going to try to:
Take a vacation. (Haven't been on one in almost 7 years.)
Excercise together (might help Dh keep to it.)
Take more time for myself.
I know it doesn't seem like alot.

I'd like to spend more time studying the Bible. I've sadly neglected the studying. I'd like to begin and stick with a daily devotion with my daughter.
I need to begin eating healthier and exercise some. I don't need to lose weight..the opposite in fact. I have no motivation for exercising.
I want to stop yelling so much when my teenage daughter angers me. Why can't I be more calm and rational???
Definitely need accountability but can't seem to find that either.

My resolution is all about creating and staying on a budget - which you might guess fills my stomach with butterflies of glee.

I love the idea of finishing my novel (which, um, didn't get to 50k in November, feh).
So then my resolutions are:
Follow through - on referrals, on paperwork, on finances, etc
Finish my novel, submit writing to other places
Finally swallow my pride and accept help when it is offered.
There - 3 good Fs for a Fabulous New Year! Hope your year is wonderful.
I'd love to hear more about your novel as you finish it.

Heh, my novel didn't get to 50K in November, either! Glad I'm not the only one! My writing, in general, needs more time devoted to it. Just keeping up my journal can be hard some days.
This is the year I'm really, truly going to exercise on a regular basis. I swear. I did my first 5K last year (walking) and this year I'm going to reprise it and I want to do better than last year. Like, a lot better than last year. So I have to actually DO IT.
I am also going to stick with the budget so I don't panic whenever it's the end of the month and every bill known to man shows up in my mailbox. :)

My only resolution is to read a book a week.

I had years ago lost all the weight I wanted to, but 6 years later I have slowly gained and gained and gained and now I am 220...ugh..I am like how did this happen. I refused to do family pics this year for Christmas cards. I got a tredmill and I am bound and determined to use it. The refrigerator is bulging at the sides with healthy foods. Of course all this starts tommorow so today I have to finish the chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting.
