Wrong Number

The Hubster called our house the other day. 

Ring, ring.

"Personal Touch Services, how can I help you?"

He smiled, thinking I was playing a joke on him.  "Hey, I like that." "Oh, I'm glad!"  she replied.    Maybe you can give me a little personal touch when I get home tonight, hmm?"  he asked.  And then he stopped to think about exactly what was going on. 

"Um, can I speak to Carmen?"  he asked. 

"Hold on a second - let me check - nope, we don't have any girls named Carmen here."

He'd called the wrong number.  One digit off.  And one digit the other way is the local big time religious counseling service.

But I have to ask...you've been married to this guy how long, and he didn't notice the voice was different? I guess when you are calling your own house you don't ever think it won't be someone you know. Or maybe it just shows how clueless guys in general are.

I laughed till I cried. That is funny but horible all rolled into one. Though I know I have done that. Called a friend, miss dialed the number and had the person on the other end thinking I was some pshyco nut on the other end.

In defense of "the Hubster," I don't find it too hard to believe that he wouldn't realize the voice was different. When I call home, I usually can't tell whether it's my mother or one of my two sisters who answers the phone. Annoys them like heck.
