Oh, the noise, noise noise, NOISE!
At any given time, these are the sounds of my house. Seriously - this is what I'm listening to RIGHT NOW.
- One child singing. This child is always either singing, humming, or repeating ALL of the lyrics to whatever show she is watching, a split second after the character on tv has said it. The echo is enough to make you want to hurl.
- John Madden's voice from Madden 08. Incessant.
- One child singing along to the iPod plugged into her ears.
- The washing machine. Always.
- The dryer. Always - I'd LOVE to line dry, but it plays havoc on the allergies and asthma here.
- The dishwasher. Always.
- One kid crying. Just about always.
- Someone is whistling.
- "OMG!!!" from one kid on the telephone.
- Hannah Montana, again.
- Star Wars on the DS - the music was great the first 73 times, but not so much now.
- Screaming. Yelling. Fussing. Not all of it from me.
What are the sounds of your house?

Crying, from the baby.
Whining, from the middle child.
Yelling, from the oldest.
Piano music, maybe.
One particular toy that makes music, but is very sensitive and is ALWAYS playing.
Music from hubby's computer.

The tv, for background noise. 2 kids playing and/or fighting, constantly. One of those talks CONSTANTLY. (We teach them to speak, why?) A cat meowing, or fighting and if they're upstairs doing that it sounds like a herd of elephants tromping around. Um, that's about it. I don't talk alot. *g* And hubs works long hours and is never here, soooo, no noise from his quarter either.

Giggles from three boys who are in bed. Every so often I hear someone tell another brother to 'shut up!' even though the phrase is outlawed here.
Oldest brother telling the 3 gigglers to turn the noise off, but is louder than they are.
The fan in the bathroom that is drying my wool coat for my trip to Utah tomorrow.
Music from itunes.
the thoughts in my head that i really need to listen to so I can get everything finished up and packed so I can go to bed at a decent hour since I need to be up at an ungodly hour to get ready for my trip to Utah for 4 days. A trip minus Hubby and 4 boys. A trip with a friend to Cub Scout Day Camp school to learn how to be a Camp Director. 4 days of zero children!

I can remember back in the days when it was the sounds of children who couldn't wait to face the day and the adventures it would contain. Then came the days of my strays, the continuous phone ringing (never for me), the people at the door knocking (never for me), the cars in and out of the drive (yet again, never for me). Now, the sounds of early morning in my home are the dogs barking to be let out. That is all -- enjoy those sounds, they will be gone soon enough

the persistent sound in my house is that of Counter Strike coming from not one - but TWO - Xbox 360s.
(I kind of like the part when they play the old USSR National Anthem.)
But I'm curious about the child who repeats the lines on the TV. I've never heard of that and it fascinates me. Which child does it? Has she always done this? To what do you attribute such a habit?

Super Mario Galaxy on the Wii.... dum dum da dum dum dum dum...
Random noise from the refrigerator
Someone telling the cat to "knock it off!"
the cat jumping down from somewhere
And aaaah, the blissful silence that follows as I only have one child home today, not sick, but working on lowering a heart rate from a small heart problem.
I am waiting for the darn nurse to call from the doc to solve heart rate problem.
waiting, waiting, waiting....

The house is quiet and I love it... maybe ESPN and the dog snoring in the background.
The office on the other hand.... you cannot imagine the level of whiney decibels that these women produce. S O A N N O Y I N G.

Right now the sounds in my house are the pecking of my fingers on the keys of this keyboard and i can faintly hear voices on a movie my daughter is watching, in addition to the wind blowing a little outside. That's all that i hear at this moment, but as the phone has run 3 times in the last 2 minutes i'm ready to hear that again at any moment too.

Noises?
The kids' bathroom toilet is running (I have no idea how to fix that), the puppy is barking at the cat, youngest dd is telling the puppy to "Hush!" while being louder than the dog, a few traffic noises since the windows are open for our beautiful fresh air, ds (ASD dx) reciting this morning's episode of Jimmy Neutron, the washing machine chugging, oldest dd whining on the phone "blah blah blah meanest mother ever blah blah blah".
Jeez, no wonder I turn everything off after the kids go to bed at night! I'm surrounded by noise!

Ahhh..husband's video game, keyboard clicking (me), washer, dryer, dishwasher, it's quiet! All 3 kids are asleep...I'm just waiting for the pounding of feet to use the bathroom, hopefully NOT to be followed by the minutes later surprise of a toilet's worth of water rapidly drizzling down from the light fixture above the kitchen island due to a not-flushed-soon-enough toilet overflow from upstairs like we had a few days ago. Fun stuff!
