I'm on Overload
But it's in such a sweet, sweet loving way.
And, man, why did no one TELL ME how cold it is here? Seriously - 51 degrees? It hasn't been 51 degrees at home in MONTHS. I have the HEAT ON.
I arrived in SF just fine - as long as you don't count the fact that I had to change planes in Chicago, when I hadn't planned on stopping in Chicago at all. That one was news to me. I had planned to take the BART into SF from the airport, but met up with two awesome and cool bloggers and we split a taxi. I hooked up with the wonderous and talented - not to mention WAY young looking - Headless Mom, and we walked to Kara's Cupcakes - a walk that Denise promised, by Google Map, was 2.1 miles. WRONG. Four miles. Man, were those cupcakes great.
I went to the SV Moms party last night, and we were given truly lovely schwag. Gift cards, a Land's End tote bag, baby shoes, the list was long and varied. After that, I planned to go to bed, but somehow made it up to the newbie mixer and had a complete and utter ball, meeting new people and catching up with a few old friends. And, of course, my beloved Jenny.
Saturday came and my PLAN was to attend sessions. Instead, I went to the opening, the first thirty minutes of "Is Mommyblogging still a radical act?" And then I decided it was time to walk, being that I was already overwhelmed, and I found the Zwaggle Recycling room. Remember, I'm one of their bloggers. I decided that was the place to be - and there I stayed. For the next, oh, FIVE HOURS. It was a great place to be - most everyone came through, I was able to expound about the Zwaggle concept, hang out with Adam (the founder of Zwaggle), meet some lovely new people, dish with Lori from Johnson and Johnson's (one of the most PERFECT human beings on the planet), eat cookies (again with the sugar!), and generally just relax and be mellow until it was time to go for my glamour girl makeover.
Do you see a theme here? Yeah, just forget planning. Because whatever I plan falls apart, and when I move organically and free flowing, it just goes SO much better.
As a contributor to the SVMoms site - I write for Deep South Moms - we were given makeovers and headshots. Tomorrow I'll try to post one of them. Despite the fact that I offered her a ton of money, the makeup artist wouldn't come to my house every day to do my makeup. So I had to buy some. And some Spanx. I NEVER pass up Spanx at a discount. I found an awesome perfume - something called Bond No. 9 - but at $178 a BOTTLE, I'm not buying it anytime soon. I also made an awesome new friend - Anne Glamore. Lovely, funny, and stunningly cute.
Tonight was a great cocktail party, where I talked the ear off of some truly lovely Ladies from GM. My bed is calling me and it's only 10 SF time, but, hello, that's 1 my time!
And it's cold here.

I must publicly say- Thanks for the cupcake, it totally rocked!
The four mile walk to get it? Not so much.

I lived in SF for 18 years and that is typical summer weather, as I'm sure you've heard by now. What hotel are you staying in?
