The problem with having a husband with a great voice is that he sings ALL the time.
The problem with having kids who inherited his voice is that they sing ALL the time.
The problem with having a lousy voice is that I love to sing ALL the time and no one likes to hear me. Especially my, uh, loving family. Like the time that I was rocking my youngest, singing her favorite song to her, the one that makes her calm down and relax most days - The Wheels on the Bus. It's a song that I sing to her all the time, making up verses as we go along - we start with the traditional verses, the ones that mention the wheels, the doors, the windows and the people - but then we take it further. We sing about cars and dogs, books and clothes, and eventually, most of the time, she calms down. The longer it takes, the more creative I become, pulling subjects out of thin air, until the dreaded occurred one dark night. While I was singing my heart out to her...
She put her little hand over my mouth and said, "No more. Yuck."
Apparently, at even 3, they know good notes when they hear them.

the chant that begins, “Beans, beans” to spread the word that beans are
a vegetable. Check out their Magical Veggie Challenge for all the details!

When my mom is rocking and singing to her grandchildren, she claims they calm down just so she'll stop singing.

When did beans become a veggie?

Nina is sooo right. When we were real little my grandma used to sing to us to get us to sleep. She was horrible. We really wished she would just STOP so we could get some sleep. (Aw, now you have me missing my grandma.)

I used to ask my mom to stop singing, now my kids tell me, so it's payback, they may sound Fabulous now but when they get older and their vocal cords are all mature, they may not sound so great and your grandchildren will let them know it. :)

Lol! I have a horrible singing voice too. I have hummed a tune my dad used to hum to me to my kids, but I refuse to sing with them. I was also told to stop, when our first child was a toddler.:(
