I'm thinking about my upcoming 40th birthday party, while I'm holding down the fort with my trusty selection of Tylenol, Motrin, tissues and the thermometer. Oh, yeah, baybee - we are still sick like pigs over here.
I want to create a playlist of music to run while the party is ongoing. If you had to pick just one song, to create the best selection of music EVER - what would you choose?
I'm going first. I choose Crazy Train by Ozzy Osbourne. OR If I Ever Leave This World Alive by Flogging Molly. Tough choice.
What would you pick?

Prince's '1999' of course!

Start the party with Brick House by the Commodores -- what better way to start 40 than to celebrate your curves!!!! PS -- Aren't you glad that you CAN take care of your kids at home, without the hassle of an outside job? I counted my blessings when it happened to us, as I lysol'ed the house down:)

to the other Beth--I'm lysol'ing my house to death this week because we're on the road to H1N1 (testing at 2).
Carmen, my choice would be CELEBRATION by KC Cool and the Gang. LOVE THAT SONG!

Carmen, check out the iTunes Store and the lastest iTunes/Touch for the genius playlist option--if you pick a song you like, it suggests ones that are like it. It really helps me to play songs that I love but aren't in my normal rotation.

Definately Ozzy, then maybe Houses of the Holy or Livin' Thing by ELO.

Heartache Tonight by the Eagles, usually accompnaied by semi-drunken shouting....

Come on Eileen. Cannot sit still when that song is playing!

Safety Dance! That is a MUST on any party playlist of mine. And for something more contemporary, I think that Katy Perry's "Waking Up in Vegas" is a really fun song.

My favorite songs right this very minute are Reeling by Passion Pit and this new ditty from Pearl Jam (they actually have a sort of happy album out now! who knew?)The Fixer. I posted the vid to my fb page for your viewing pleasure.
Music mix should be reliant upon the mood of your party. You want background music for people to groove to even if they don't know it. Or do want kareoke type sing along stuff that will take them back down memory lane even if you weren't on the original trip with them.
A little Black Eyed Peas is fun for party music too.
When Terry and I got married we put 7 hours of music onto a VHS tape and played it through our speakers. So it had a rhythm for the evening. Ended with Happy Trails by Van Halen

Don Henley, Boys of Summer, got to have some Prince in there and "I will survive" cus how many times did you think that you would never make it to your 30th birthday let alone your 40th?

What about the Ramone's Blitzkrieg Bop? You also can't go wrong with the B52s.

I don't know if this is the actual name of the song, but I absolutely love "Play that funky music, white boy". Also, I don't remember the artist name.

Without going back and just playing almost anything from the 80s, and now I date myself, I like to listen to Pink. She is such a Bad Ass.
However, the cautious me worries about the likelihood of you yourself coming down with the flu when the party approaches. My eldest went to a conference and brought it to our house as a souvenir. Not pleasant. She was sick on Sunday and by Tuesday the remaining 4 of us were sick. Like "shoot me now" sick.
Stay well.

Summer of '69 by Bryan Adams. Someone else mentioned Boys of Summer by Don Henley; that was my original first choice. ;)
