My kids came home from the mountain trip with their Nana. They LOVED it. She takes a grouping of them every year - it rotates depending upon who wants to go and who is old enough - and they stay at the same place. It's great fun for them and I so appreciate my mom taking them - I always love being with my kids, but I'd be a liar if I didn't love having a break. The day they come home is always the same. They yell and scream to see me, toss all of their clothes in the general direction of the washer, put their pumpkins on the front step, and bring their prizes into the kitchen.
Witness prize #1
25 pounds of Fuji apples
And witness their special gift to me - the one that they were on pins and needles to see how I'd react:
Honeycrisp apples - my portion was just about 12 pounds. To say I was delighted would have been an understatement.
Yesterday I made two enormous batches of applesauce, one large apple crumb, and a set of apple muffins.
What did I do with the rest of my free weekend? Hmm. I shopped at the mall Friday, partied Friday night like I was still a college girl, slept away half of Saturday with a hangover that I really and truly deserved, made chocolate cupcakes with kahlua frosting, rum cake, molasses cookies, whole wheat banana bread and ate spaghetti until I popped at the church dinner.
I'd say it was a good weekend.
How did you spend the weekend?

Oh my gosh, my mouth is actually watering. We spent the weekend indoors (stupid rain) but, enjoyed family dinners including a wicked apple spice cake I haven't baked in years!
Now, I'm hungry - thanx!

I moved back in with the husband so my weekend was spent moving in the rain, unpacking, crying from the disorder, drinking so I don't care about the disorder...
I am so excited about this stage of my life I hope it all goes well!

It could have been better. Got sick and tired. Shared my views and it went over like a lead balloon. Ahh well, such is the life of a wife and mother.
So glad you enjoyed yours. I love all of the apples!

Crappy October weather complete with rain and chilly temps....so all 6 of us spent the weekend cooped up in the house yelling at one another. Child #3 and Child #4 came down with colds. Don'tcha wish you were here?
Thank god it's Monday and they're back in school.

It sounds like you had an awesome weekend, you did deserve it!
You have got me on a Honeycrisp kick, delicious.
We finally set up the bunkbeds for the girls this weekend, did the usual household stuff and I did a lot of homework for some classes I'm taking.

Went to a cocktail party for my husbands job on friday - yeah free food and booze! And it was the good stuff too! Chilled around the house and visited a friend in hospital on Saturday and had friends over for dinner (the good kind of friends you don't have to clean the house for) and then went to see couples therapy with them. Awesome Weekend!

I want a cupcake! We were sick all weekend. It's not the flu, though, thank goodness. I did make some cookie dough last night. Yes, just dough. Just to eat.

We have tons of apples here, but no honeycrisps. I wish I knew how to make apple chips because they are delicious. *G* We spent the weekend running errands, picking up pumpkins and yesterday my husband and daughter participated in a walk for the homeless and my son and I went to Zumba class. I also ironed for two hours and then make spicy chicken stir fry with garlic and fried rice and had hot chocolate for dessert. *G*

I still have to try those apples, I keep forgetting to look for them. You had a busy weekend. We went to LA to show my visiting dad our sons new condo. I did bake some cookies but nothing compared to you. I wish I had that energy.

Had 28 kids over for my 2yr olds birthday party on friday. Saturday, babysat an extra 3 kids all day, and made endless cups of tea to the people who called that couldn't make the party on friday, also baked white choclate and raspberry cookies as gifts, face-painted the kids faces, made playdough, all to keep the kids entertained. Cleaned up about 15 times too.
Then on sunday went to 11.30 mass as it was my father in laws months mind. Went to visit his grave. Then went out for lunch with all my husbands family. we headed straight home afterwards instead of going to the pub with everyone else, as we were exhausted from the previous 2 days.
I am so looking forward to this weekend when we head off to the middle of no-where to stay in a log cabin and DO NOTHING.

I took the girls shopping and out to lunch for doing their chores all week. We watched movies from the "Red Box" and relaxed on the couch pretty much the entire weekend!

We all got the (not-the-swine) flu. So I'm cooped up and drooling over your goodies (Kahlua frosting is almost worth the airfare to your place). Oh, and I'm LOVING my new laptop :-)

I made mashed rutabaga with molasses, pine nuts and Zante currants and gave some to a friend who I then accompanied to a hole-in-the-wall restaurant to sample Burmese cuisine.

Sounds like you had a good time. My daughter was actually out of town too, so my husband and I got some "alone" time. It was all good and fun right up until Saturday afternoon when I started coughing non-stop and it continued through the rest of the weekend. Kind of put a damper on the romantic weekend. Not fun...

Spent the weekend at Colorado with my sister and BIL and had fun, until Lydia puked. Your weekend sounds more fun.
