But, whatever. It was for a good reason. The 14th was my birthday and I had grand, grand plans, y'all. They involved taking a Muay Thai class, shopping for clothes and taking a nap - all before my enormous birthday party.
You know what they say about making plans, right?
After my kids had their morning class, we came home and I started setting up for the party. My cell phone rang - it was a number I didn't recognize - and I briefly thought about ignoring it. But I didn't, and I answered.
"Hi, Mrs. Masses? This is Joe from the Great Big Soccer group, and I'm calling to tell you that the District Kick Off Championship is still scheduled for today at 1."
I had forgotten all about it.
A little background: a month ago, Mackenzie was invited to take part in the Kick Off something or another (I wasn't listening, and my hubby took her. She came in first for her age group. She came home with a plaque and a certificate.) I thought that was the end of it. It wasn't. Two weeks later, I fielded a call from Joe who indicated that Mackenzie was invited to participate in Districts. I took the information down on an envelope while sitting at a stop light, tucked it into a book, and completely blanked on the entire event. Not to mention, it had been storming for 3 days and it was STILL raining yesterday, and what do you MEAN she needs to be on the field in two hours? She's not even home. CRAP.
I called the family that she was visiting, and they were participating in a dog show. I had to tell her she'd be leaving, drive 35 minutes to go get her, run home, grab her (completely unpacked) soccer bag and make it to the location for the GREAT SOCCER KICK OFF. Which, you know, was exactly how I wanted to spend my birthday. AT THE SOCCER FIELD. IN THE RAIN.
And, of course, she was the youngest in the 12-15 age bracket, and of course, she made 180 points out of 200 and of course they told her she's going to States. Of course.
Soccer will never end.
In other news, I had a super time at my party last night, but I'm now officially too old to drink that much ever again. My head says so. I had super fun with my friends, got about 10 bottles of wine and a bunch of gift cards, and my hubby gave me an iPHONE. Squee!!!
Please to tell me your favorite Apps for this thing.

Welcome to the iPhone dark side! Must have apps: Facebook, Pandora (internet radio) Shazam (can tell you what song is playing on the radio--amazing!) I also use tweetdeck and twitpic. RedLaser--scan a barcode and it will show you where you can get it cheaper online--a must for Christmas!
That should keep you busy for a while!

I read your blog on my iPhone every night so the safari browser works pretty well. Other goodies: weather.com, CNN, lots of free radio apps, and if u get a connector for it, you can hook it up to your car radio and use iPod through it. More things but I'll need to write those down first.

You were saying a while back that you wanted a kindle. You can download the Kindle app for free and then download books from amazon directly on to your phone.

Jenn E, do you know who came up with Run Pee? Jordan Palmer of the Cincinnati Bengals. I watched Hard Knocks this past summer and they covered that. I thought it was interesting....

This isn't an app, but it might come in handy for you. I personally enter all my appointment into Outlook and then the iPhone reminds of them before they happen, so no more running around like a chicken with its head cut off at the last moment...:)

Happy Birthday! I celebrated my birthday (the 12th) in Norfolk during "the storm of the century". And as a birthday gift, just before midnight our biggest oak tree fell, crushing our shed (and everything inside), our fence, and our riding lawn mower (that was sitting ouside the shed). I may need a few drinks myself!

Shopper.... and play around with it once you have it because you can personalize it, arrange by store, etc. You can also email shopping lists to others, like husbands out running errands. They LOVE that...
