Or, at least, as normal as I can be, which, as we all know, is not normal at all.
I took a couple of days off. My kids were home, my husband was off, and we "bonded". To be more correct - today we (meaning me and the hubby) engaged in a sword and pistol duel with the kids. We devised a strategy involving sneaking around the back stairs and surprising the pants off of one kid or another, screaming and laughing so loud that, at one point, I'm pretty sure I peed my pants. It was a remarkable way to release stress. (I videotaped it, but my husband forbid putting it on the blog. Fun sucker.)
For about, like, maybe five days - I answered no emails. I wrote no blog posts. I did hang around on Twitter. And Facebook. But otherwise, I read no blogs and did no work at all. I read an entire 600+ page great book - Into the Wilderness, recommended by a faithful reader. It was really, really good, and I'm on book two of the series already. Book request - has anyone read the Pink Carnation Series? I'm looking for books to put on the Kindle.
I ran in a race on New Year's day. I cleaned out the little girls bureaus. We rearranged bedrooms and moved beds and bookshelves. I cleaned the pantry. We cleaned off bookshelves, connected the books with those of the rest of each series, and worked hard. The laundry is all done. The house is de-christmased except for the tree, which is going down tomorrow while everyone is at school.
SCHOOL.
But, wait. I forgot the MOST IMPORTANT fact of this entire past week. The thing that has occupied the majority of my time. The very thing that has kept me busier than I ever thought I'd be, the last few days of vacation.
My dishwasher leaked all over the floor New Year's Eve and died a very painful death. I'm still in mourning.

I've read the Pink Carnation series and love them! They are well written, great characters, and fun. I love the flipping back and forth from the present to the past. I enjoy the female heroine - she has spunk! Are you into fantasy genre at all? I can also recommend Mercedes Lackey series "The 500 Kingdoms" for a unique spin on the traditional fairy tales. The 1st in the series is "The Fairy Godmother".

With the exception of the sucktastic dishwasher you sound well rested and happy.
That? Is good!

Oops sorry to hear about your dishwasher. Every year I hope that Santa will bring me one and every year I am disappointed.
I have been having trouble with my oven. Everything I bake has been coming out weird. And I know it CAN'T be anything I am doing, lol. I got new pans, new butter, paid extra special attention to directions... My husband did not give a hoot until it was turkey time. Then we discovered that my oven was much hotter than it said it was. Problem solved.
As long as nothing goes wrong with my internet, I am ok. Don't mess with my internet people!

Oh that sucks about your dishwasher!
I've read most of the books in the Pink Carnations series. They are a lot of fun!

Pink Carnation series is middling good. (7.5 out of 10.) I really wish writers would just focus on writing GOOD interesting books and not feel they have to throw in gratuitous sex scenes to spice things up. Allude to it--fine, but I don't need the details. (And there are a lot of details.)

There are more books after Into the Wilderness. DO NOT read the flyleaf of any of them. They give away a big surprise in the middle of one of the books, I cannot remember which one. I was sad that I already knew about it. And Claire and Jamie are mentioned in one of them too. I'm currently rereading the Outlander series so I can read the new book......I'm bogged down by The Fiery Cross right now. My least fav.

This happened to me about3yrs ago with my previous dishwasher. Hubbie found the model of motor we needed on Ebay, cleaned all the "crap" from inside the steam area and it worked for the alst 3yrs, I got a new one for my birthday though because we finally squirrelled enough coins away to buy one.
