I have a new review up at Scrutiny, news on my selection to be one of the Frigidaire Test Drive Moms (what do you think of the appliance selection I've been assigned??) and a post on DietsInReview discussing those often ridiculed Kegel muscles. You just have this weekend to enter to win one of two free tickets to FitBloggin' (I'm speaking! Come hear me!) Go check - you might be the winner of the Flirty Apron or the Knock-Knock prize! Did you enter for the $100 and $200 Visa Gift Cards? There's a new topic over at My Savvy Source group - check down below and to the right to see that link.
Whew. I'm tired. Today I did doctor visits.
I had my check up with the gynecologist after the surgery, and she pronounced me completely healed and now it's a waiting game to see what happens when I cycle again. I was officially released to go back to exercise.
Whoops. I, uh, already did that.
AND.
I went to the dermatologist and had my every 6 months "get naked and look over my flabby body for melanoma" scan, where I was found to have another spot that has all the ABCD's and is very suspicious. It's Asymmetrical, has Irregular Borders, has three Colors and is larger in diameter than a pencil eraser. The one that I had removed that resembled from my arm was exactly like this one, and it was a stage two melanoma. I had two others removed that were stage one on my booby and my back.
I'm over this.
Make sure you wear sunblock. Sure, you put it on your kids, but do you wear it yourself? And don't even tell me you go to tanning beds.
I'll come over and make a mess in your kitchen. Right now, that's the worst punishment I can come up with.

My SIL has had two pre-cancerous spots (not sure what to call them - cells?) removed from her face.
She allows her two teenaged daughters to tan at a tanning salon, to the point where they look orange.
When I saw my nieces at Christmas time I let them know they would regret it some day. It's not going to stop them.

Glad your surgery check up was good. Sorry about the spot. I will say a prayer. I always wear sunscreen but I've never had my body checked out. I guess I better do that.

I always wear sunscreen! And make hubby wear it too. His mom died of melanoma at 42, when he was 19. Vigilant, we are.
Oh, checked out Knock Knock and I love it! Bookmarked it for future gifts and such.

Thank you for the reminder. I can't think of a better way to bring it home.
I don't understand why being tan remains the "in" thing. Just the other day I was arguing with a good friend who wants to tan so that she won't look pale for her wedding in June.

I have a large scar on my face/lip where I had a melanoma removed along w/a good chunk of my lip. Scary shit. I've now passed the 5 year survival point so I no longer get checked by the oncologist. Now it's just the derm visits ... where I pray like hell he catches the next one - if there is a next one.
Big hugs to you!

Carmen, thinking and praying about you today. I, too, have those 6 month full body checks and every one makes me anxious--several scares since my original melanoma in 2007. The good thing is that you do go every 6 months so this one hasn't had a long time to develop. I have had an ABCD spot that wasn't a melanoma. Hugs!

I can't even believe tanning beds are still legal. You're not paying for tanned skin...you're paying for cancer. It's just insanity.

I am the queen of sunscreen, kids AND me. Got that red haired gene - would blow up like a vampire in full sunlight if I didn't!
YOU can mess up my kitchen ANY TIME, as long as it involves one of those CAKES you wrote about. nomnomnommmmmm
I'll say my prayers for you - sorry you have to go through this! Sounds like your doc is ON THE BALL though - a very good thing!

Thinking of you, and hope the spot is a false alarm. Well done you for having your check every 6 months.
On a lighter note, can't wait to hear about the washer-dryer! If you rate it highly, it has to be a good buy!
