I'm currently typing from my bed. The surgery went well - I am having very little pain, but it took a LOT more time that the surgeon anticipated - she said that I had a lot of junk up there. When I asked what she meant, the nurse responded with, "Car parts, leftover Tupperware, that sort of stuff." Man - she discovered my secret hiding place. I mostly feel very tired still from the anesthesia, my brain is a little fuzzy - typing is, um, interesting, because what I want to type comes out totally different on the screen - and my throat is crazy sore from the tube. I should be much better tomorrow. I just wanted to catch you guys up, thank HEADLESS MOM for being my blog keeper, and alert you to a few goodies in my life. You can win $100 just by entering a giveaway I have going on, thanks to V-8 juice, and I have a couple of new posts up at DietsInReview. There's a question at Blogher and a new topic at Savvy Source, which is linked in the right hand sidebar - just look a couple of posts down.
As well as call your attention to National Delurker Day. I know that there are tons of you out there that don't ever leave a comment - but, please, won't you leave one today? If you have no idea what to say, it's ok - you can tell me your favorite juice, ice cream, cookie or coffee drink, or what you think of men's houndstooth jackets, or if you think that 50's style housewife dresses will ever come back into fashion, or if you can sleep with socks on - NOT ME. But, pretty please, won't you please delurk for me and leave a comment? I'd be so grateful, and it'd give me something to read for the next 24 hours.

Sending my love! xoxox

Figures I'm first. (Or close anyway.) I can start out in socks, but they must come off sometime during the night. Sometimes with Hubbys help. Not quite as sexy as it sounds, though.

Delurking to say that I really enjoy reading your blog! And um...no to the
socks...too confining!

Found your blog from a Facebook and Twitter friend who follows you. Don't know what else to say but be well . . .

I am kind of de-lurking. I've commented before and I read your blog on a daily (yes, daily) basis. Hope you recover well from your surgery!

HaaHaaHaa! That's a great logo for Delurker Day!
My favorite juice: unfiltered Honey Crisp apple (served it in wine glasses for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners)
Fav ice cream: Ben & Jerry's Fish Food (haven't indulged for long long time)
Fav cookie: chocolate chip from McDonald's along with a large sweet tea (yesterday)
Fav coffee: Gevalia traditional roast (decaf for the past 15 months) made in my Keurig coffee maker (enjoying it as we speak)
No opinion on men's houndstooth jackets. Is it filled with a sexy professer type that loves to draw shy women into long conversations next to a roaring fireplace over a quiet drink? (If so, that'd be fine, especially draped over the end of a bedpost)hee hee
I love the look of the 50's dresses (I have been known to buy vintage patterns just because I love the lines of the dress) would I wear one regularly? No.
I cannot sleep with socks on, not even for a nap, too claustrophobic.
How about favorite author? Diana Gabaldon.
Have you read the Outlander series? If not start with the first and shortest: Outlander.
My favorite past time: reading. Which brings me to my favorite Christmas gift this year: Nook from Barnes and Noble.
Happy reading! Get well soon!

Glad everything went well. Delurking for you. The comment about wearing socks to bed? My feet are always cold but I hate wearing socks to bed!

Coming out of hiding...Glad surgery went well!

Well, I comment on occasion, and won a book from you once.
But I love your blog. I don't know why (my husband doesn't understand why I like reading about other people's lives), but I do.
I live in Utah and am the wife of a student (four more years until we have a PhD, knock on wood) and mother of 2, with 1 on the way.
And I have no idea how to be a homemaker who keeps the house tidy, and the dishes done, and still chase after 2 little boys and feed everybody on a shoestring budget every day.
Good luck with the recovery! Enjoy the time off your feet, if you can.

I'm a notorious lurker. Glad you're feeling better than you expected. Hope you're up and around soon!

I comment from time to time but am happy to be here for you today.
Glad the surgery went well and hope that you can rest. Don't get up!
I just wrote a long post about a ball--Africa style--might give you something to read while recovering. :)

Hiya Carmen! So glad your surgery went well!! I read daily, and may have commented once or twice; can't remember for sure, I've slept since then. But, figured I'm pop my head out of my semi-lurker hole and give you a shout out. I read your blog daily, and totally respect the strength and courage you show in your writing. Now I'm climbing back into my lurker hole... just eyes (and a mass amount of un-tame-able brunette hair!!) peeping up...

Your blog is like a drug to me...I check it several times a day. Never fails to make me laugh, cry or realize what a charmed life we all lead. Hope you feel better soon.

Lurker here! I'm glad your surgery went well. Rest, and take it easy. Socks, no, hard to sleep with socks on. The cast on my foot, even harder to sleep. I keep trying to push it off while I am sleeping, and wake up LOL.

Feel better!
Recent favorite coffee: Fa la latte from Caribou (I'm in Atlanta.)
One of their slogans: "Our coffee is smooth and fresh. Because burnt and bitter was already taken." Maybe you have to know my Starbucks-hating husband for that to be funny.
I don't like sleeping with socks on, but my feet take hours to warm up. My husband bought me an electric mattress pad for Christmas, and I am totally in love!! (Oh, that sounds like I'm ancient; I'm really only 40, and he just knows me really well - I value warmth over many, many things.)

Non-fat iced latte:)
Socks ON
Favorite juice: cranberry with a shot of bacardi limon and lemon wedges
Homemade nestle tollhouse cookies
vanilla ice cream
Hope you feel better soon!!

This commenting thing is getting harder and harder today. I *may* have gone back to lurking. But for you? Hi. :)
Posted by: Issa | January 14, 2010 at 04:02 PM
I put my hand up and admit to lurking more than I comment...but not today! (or yesterday, as it happens!)
It has to be socks on, I'm afraid, for most of the year, and often a hot water bottle too! (One chilly year I had a hot water bottle from August through to May...)
Despite being a serial lurker, I read you blog most days and am so impressed you're writing already after your surgery! Don't go too mad, you need to rest up too.
But I love your blog, and even did a page in my Art Journal based on a quotation from you. (And in case you're wondering, I did credit you with the quotation, even if noone but me sees the Journal!)

Glad your doing well. I am not a delurker, you know who I am and I like butter pecan ice cream because you needed to know that!
