Ten things I'm going to strive to achieve in 2010 (Mad hat tip to my wonderful friend Jenny who did this first - I'm only copying her!)
1. I will drink more water. In fact, as of New Year's Eve, I have had NO Diet Mt. Dew at all. None. I had a terrible horrid Coca Cola habit four years ago and managed to break it, but about two years ago, I got into a terrible DMD habit. Now I'm just drinking water. It's been a bit rough, but SIX days. Water and a cup of iced coffee in the morning.
2. I'm going to TRY to get better at the laundry. I rock the world at getting it washed and dried, but folded - uh-uh, baybee. It sits in the baskets, so I'm going to try to put it away a little quicker.
3. Work harder. Work a LOT harder. At the gym, silly.
4. Try to stick to the schedule I've created so I'm not at the computer at 10 p.m.
5. So that I can be in bed AT 10 p.m. More sleep = better Carmen.
6. Get my proposal back out there and get this book sold already.
7. And now try to think of four more.
Seriously, my main goals are to stick to the schedule and drink more water.
So my ten in 2010 is more like 6 in 2010. What are your goals?

Organization ~ get rid of all the crap I never use and don't need!

I'll second what Debby said. Uh, she's my irl friend so maybe we can help each other-or at least do a little ass kicking now and then. We're also working on getting our house done like we want it. Don't ask.

Ten is hard. My resolutions include being on time in a general umbrella kind of way ,for example in responding to mail & calls, paying bills, arriving on time, not procrastinating with household chores. I am pretty good at arriving on time but sometimes we really cut it close on school mornings. Second, I resolve to use spell check and or proofread. I am so ADD, I never take the time to do it. I am actually a very good speller but suck as a typist (pretty ironic since I run an office-huh?)therefore I think I often look like a nimwit with my typos. I also resolve to sneak more fruits and vegs in on my kids. So far so good with that one, been cutting up fruits and veggiess and setting them out while I prep dinner. They just munch & chat away at the island while I cook. Also I resolve to be perfect.

Amie - I love that last one. I don't dare go there, it makes me crazy. I have a new habit (not a resolution exactly) of keeping the house tidy, but I need to work harder on then moving forward with all of our home improvement plans. Home improvement projects B O R E me but they need to get done. Also, I'm looking for work and my goal is to find something part-time and not to get suckered into full time again. Do you think there is any hope for that?

Have you read Mary's (Owlhaven.net) solution for laundry with a load of kids?
I think it's genius.

To get back with the program. "The Program" = good self care. To eat better, to move more, to accept help, to communicate better and honestly and to not stuff down the stuff I think I shouldn't say/do.

get your kids to put that laundry away! add raise responsible adults to list and get them moving. lol. my kids each have a basket and put their own away b/c I also rock at washin and folding but not putting away. I also hang up all shirts to avoid the shoved in the drawer look. lol

I'm adding something else - learn to say NO. I have a terrible time in that my default response, when asked to do something for someone, is yes, without thinking it through. I need to take my time, to think about what I'm agreeing to do, and only say yes if it benefits me and my family.

I can only come up with one right now: laugh more than I cry. That's it.
Hopefully I'll be able to make more soon, but that one seems far fetched enough in the moment.

I have three: stay more in touch with family & friends. I drop the ball on returning calls & emails. Better eating & more exercise, and better home org absolutely!

Yeah I don't think the perfect is really going to work out for me, but I am pretty serious about the others. Sadly I don't even care about the laundry- it gets washed, dried & folded, and each person has a clean laundry basket in their room they basically live out of. Sad & wrinkly but true.

I have two-
1. Run a marathon. I've done three 1/2 marathons so I'm close but not close enough. Need to complete the whole kit and kaboodle.
2. Shut my mouth. I need to listen more and talk less.

Respect myself more and enjoy the journey.

I'm going to work hard at being a slacker mom ... agreeing to fewer kids' activities/ playdates/ sleepovers that end up being a lot of effort on my part; instead, I'm hoping my kids can learn to enjoy each other and being home more. That way I can cook more good stuff instead of relying to take-out between activities, and I'm pretty sure I'll also have more me-time -- and something tells me they won't suffer. I tried to do it all in 2009, and, in 2010, I'm going to keep it real!
