I'm at Blissdom, in one of the most gorgeous hotels I've ever seen. Please enjoy this meme and I'll be ever so grateful.
Blogging has been good to me. Very, very good. I've made some tremendous friendships and met many, MANY amazing people. I've been afforded many opportunities that I am so grateful for - speaking, writing, and twittering about my day to day life. For the past few months, I’ve been participating in BlogHer’s Family Connections citizen journalism project as a Momspotter. Basically that means I tweet a few times a day with the #momspotting hashtag about how I use technology in my day-to-day parenting life. And so! Now I’m going to tell you a few things about me. Because this is my blog.
If you like the meme, feel free to do one yourself and leave a link in the comments or tweet it with the #momspotting hashtag.
1.
Which expensive electronic device do you most often let your
older children abuse or your baby drool on? I
don't really keep my stuff separate, exactly. I mean, I have my laptop
and they have their own computers, but I do let them use mine. I have
loaded programs into my phones for them to play, and I think that my
iPhone is the one that I'm the most anxious about. I let them use it,
but I definitely rest easier when it's in my hot little hands.
2.
How many take-out restaurant numbers do you have programmed into
your phone? Just one. The local pizza place. :)
3.
How many hours of television do you so totally not let
your kids watch a week?About a bazillion more than should be legal. In
fact, I'm constantly walking into a room that I think is empty to find
a child has slid in and is watching tv behind closed doors.
4.
Do you think people who say “we don’t watch
television” at playdates but really mean
“we just watch DVDs” are lying liars from Liarville? Yes and yes and why would you have a playdate without TV?
5.
How
many miles have you driven with your child and not one
device of electronic entertainment in a single car trip? Never. None. I
would never do it. ALso, I hate road trips and go on them under great
protest, which means that in order to keep me happy, I must have my own
set of electronic equipment.
6.
What’s your record for calls to the pediatrician or
Ask-a-Nurse in a single day? I think four once during an allergic reaction.
7.
What’s the sexiest thing your husband/partner could text
you after a hard day? Go for a massage, I'm putting the kids to bed and cleaning the house.
8.
What’s your favorite iPad joke? None. I'm so not into that.
9.
What’s the dumbest parenting tool, gear, gadget or device
you ever bought? Diaper
wipe warmer. I think I used diaper wipes for about a month and then
switched to washcloths and a peri bottle filled with water, a squirt of
apricot baby oil and a couple drops each of tea tree and lavender
essential oils. I used cloth diapers on my kids so the washcloths just went into the bucket o' dipes. It was cheap and smelled better AND worked better.
10.
How
many years will it take for your child to become more tech-savvy
than you? My oldest kids have pretty much caught up to me. Every once
in a while my son teaches me something - but I try to stay ahead of the
curve as much as I can. They have had great computer classes at school.
I'm still ahead of my little kids - but that's probably not going to
last long.

Just found your blog today via Twitter. I like your attitude!
I co-authored a book called Run Like a Mother, coming out March 23. I’d love to have publicist send you a copy for possible review. Could you please email me your mailing address (pls. include your blog name as well) at bowenshea [at] gmail? Thanks!

"How many years will it take for your child to become more tech-savvy than you?" Apparently it has happened. Your opening paragraph had so much jargon my tiny brain exploded, sorry. I did not know what a Meme was and had to get my 16 year old to help. And then there was hashtag and momspotter and I wasn't sure if Blissdom was a real hotel or just a code name and after that I didn't know what to do...........
I always thought I was above the curve on this stuff but apparently something has happened and things have started to pass me by *sniff* *tear* lol
