It started about a month ago.
My little girls share a room, and it's very difficult to get them up in the morning. When it started to get warmer - thank you GOD! - and lighter earlier, I began to open the blinds when I woke them, thinking that the sunlight could help them move a bit quicker. They love to sleep and every morning it's the same argument. I don't wanna get up, I'm cold/having a good dream, don't wanna go to school, no, no NO!
And then, one day, I saw the woman and her dog out the window.
Every morning when I open the blinds, I see her within a minute or two. We back up to an open area that often sees people exercising, walking their dogs, or just hanging out. She walks her German Shepard for quite a while, and when I see her, I tell the girls, "Wake up! I see the woman with the dog!" And they jump up, run to the window, and watch her. They've made up plenty of stories, for after about 10 minutes of the walk, she virtually disappears in the trees, which back up to a set of portables at a school.
"I think she's a teacher, and she's going to work. Her dog sits outside the class and growls at kids who are bad."
"No, I think she's a fairy who distapears into the trees and her dog is her fairy dog."
Whatever the reason, she helps me get the girls up, and I'm grateful. Yesterday we graduated to opening the window, and to my shock, Riley was the one to belt out "Good MORNING!" while her older, more outgoing sister shrank back. Not content with that small contact - for all the woman did was wave and the girls CRAVE knowledge - her name, the name of the dog, is the dog a girl? - they decided this morning to go outside and yell over the fence.
Yes, that was us, yelling at 6:30. Sorry if we woke you.
They want to keep trying, though.

We wake our son up by asking him if he has to go to the bathroom. He can lay in bed for a half hour saying he's tired etc. and doesn't want to get up, but then if we ask him if he has to pee he's up in a flash!

That's so awesome! what a great way to get to know your neighbours and for the girls to be introduced slowly to the dog as I remember this time last year it was quite a different story of a dog. hugs!
