Jennifer, I wasn't insulted and I knew exactly what you meant. There are those Catholic women who think that to be modest, you have to wear long skirts to the floor and blouses up to your neck, none of which have any shape and look like tents to cover up the body. I used to dress more like that until I realized that you can be stylish and modest- meaning, clothes that actually fit and are flattering but not "sexy". I think we all know the fashions you are talking about.

However, it is not really any of our business how others would like to dress, just as it is not our business how someone gets their hair cut. :) It's hard not to be judgemental but I guess there is that tendency in all of us- thank you Adam and Eve! :)

I agree that hair will grow back, but when my 16 yr old son [who has always had longer hair, and it was really cute, too] came home with a mohawk, a really really short one, I was bummed out. His whole basketball team did it before a tournament, and I get the reason and all, but I still don't like it!!

I wish my 4 yr old son would be okay with a mohawk! Boys can get away with fun stuff - their hair grows back to normal so much faster.

Carmen, too bad for your daughter. Maybe that lady has been dealing with her own desire for long hair...in fact, maybe someone made a similar comment to her years ago!

My girl has had a similar cut (stacked bob with bangs) and has for almost her whole short life! Every once in awhile she wants to grow it out and have "princess hair" - but I explained how her perfectly straight hair would never look like princess hair. And how it would require more care: braids, ponytails, & barrettes (none of which she is a fan) and would get more snarls.

She has always chosen to keep it short.

About Me

  • WANTED, Carmen, mom to the Masses, for dangerous undertakings inside and outside the home. Last seen with her partner The Hubster, and six accomplices (Nikolas 19, Allegra 17, Mackenzie 14, Gabriel 12, Emma 9 and Riley 8). This fugitive is considered armed (with epi pens and inhalers) and dangerous, especially when she hasn't had her morning coffee. She is particularly difficult to recognize due to an 80 pound weight loss (size 18-20 down to 6-8!), and has been known to hide beneath large piles of laundry. She's a fan of running races, has her Black Belt in Muay Thai and can be found reading, training Crossfit, boxing or running to the store for milk and bread. And coffee. Always the Coffee.
