Mom to the Screaming Masses: A Flibberty Jibbet, A Will-o-Wisp, A Clown

This child never ever gets tired. In fact, she makes me tired just watching her.

I'm speaking of Mackenzie, on the occasion of her 13th birthday. I cannot quite believe it, but the child is a full blown teenager.

The song from The Sound of Music, called Maria, is a song that my husband and I refer to often when we talk about this child. She was born 3 weeks early, weighing just 5 pounds and 17 inches long. I had suffered from Intrauterine Growth Retardation and it was better for her to be out than in, as the doctor said.

She's always been a teeny, tiny person - but she takes on those much bigger than her fearlessly. Witness this picture from a few seasons ago of soccer:

She's always, always happy and always full of energy and spunk and enthusiasm. She wakes up happy, goes to bed happy and sometimes, it annoys the others in the house.

She's a math whiz and a straight A student, excels at cross country and soccer and loves to read.
