I'm giving away $150 to one lucky reader. Will it be you?
Remember back a while ago, when I told you that I was recognized as a Blogher Voices of The Year Recipient?
Huge. HUGE HONOR.
Basically, one of you lovely people nominated a post of mine as one of the best things he/she had read, and out of about 400 posts nominated in the life category, mine came in the top 20. I wasn't picked to read at the keynote, but it's ok, for I know that it was a mommy intense post and not everyone is a mommy - so my post didn't have wide spread appeal.
The post was given to a lovely artist, who created an art piece based on the sentiments expressed in my post.
And here's what she created:
It says, "What you have is so precious and so fleeting" and has a picture of a bird nest. On the bottom it says, "Just hold your infants and enjoy them, squeeze them and remember the moments." Those words came from the nominated post. Those white things on the bottom are comments that people made. And, um, yeah - my hairdresser, the appt I'd scheduled for the day before my trip, had canceled on me, so I had the roots and the flippy bangs and the bedraggled tresses that I endeavor to escape every day. Just ignore the uncomfortable looking chick in the background - although she did have a great dress and some rockin' shoes on - except that I stood there for so long I had the blisters to prove it.
It was really nice. Probably one of the nicest things that anyone has ever done with regards to my blog.
Except for this:
Kalisa wrote a post detailing the story of how we met each other. I had actually forgotten the first interaction we had - I can't believe how long I've been blogging.
On a completely different topic, because, really, I can sway from topic to topic like nobody's business: I did a "How to Pack a Healthy School Lunch" Video series for Diets In Review - and it made Top 10 on Yahoo Buzz. If you are looking for some ideas for a healthier lunch for your back to school kiddos, check it out here. Here's the review of the awesome lunch box I used in the series. Can't recommend it highly enough.

I loved that post!!!!

I remember that post. You really touched my heart with that one because it resonated with me. Is it weird to say you earned every single one of those blisters? *G*

That was an awesome post. Also? Your dress rocks.
I'm so glad that I ran into you at BlogHer (totally informally, at the bottom of the expo escalator, no time for a proper intro since we were both rushing off somewhere)...

How fabulous is that piece of art? I'm hoping it was given to you? It was such a great post.

I hope you get to keep that artwork- so cool. You hair looks fantastic & your dress is perfect. Can't see the shoes but I am guessing they r the ones u posted before trip. I still wish you were my neighbor :) I commented on the other blog and am hoping to win inspite of having steered u wrong on the dress and offended your other readers in the last month.btw I decided to take mine to alter mine a little to reduce the boobage factor so I can get more wear out of it.I did not know you had been meeting with "Betsey"- good for you. It is like exercise for your soul and one of the best gifts you can give yourself. Of course I might be biased as a counselor type. I'd love to hear about your healthy family dinner plans for back to school. My kids start school Aug 24 & our after school marathon begins. I try not to overdue it- but they each have tutoring 1x a week, A has dance 1x & W has flag football 2 x a week. That leaves us w exactly one blissful afterschool evening per week-ugh!

Gorgeous. Well deserved. What girl from Houston that Kalisa referenced? I know most of the bloggers here-was it Allison or Pam, Jenny, Karen?

Congratulations!
Your post made me think of a song called "Blink" by a group called Revive.
