- People are almost all nice. Even the mean ones.
- I should never be afraid to share a room with Kalisa
- I need to learn how to accept a compliment. Lisa Stone, one of the founders of Blogher, requested my presence at a couple of meetings with sponsors. Me. She asked me. I was honored to even be asked, and totally and completely floored when she, and OTHERS, spoke about me and my little blog with glowing, positive terms - and I listened in shock as they complimented me and discussed the power of my blog. My little corner of the Internet that I sometimes wonder if anyone reads.
- And to own the power.
- Most everyone is afraid and insecure and overwhelmed. I fit RIGHT IT.
- Some people are exactly what you expect. I've known Kalisa for about 6 years, I think - and I was so worried about sharing a room with her. And she was exactly what I hoped and thought and it was an AMAZING experience.
- There is SO MUCH SUPPORT in the online world
- Henna tattoos ROCK HARD. (pic courtesy of the adorable and uber talented Casey. Manicure courtesy of the talented OPI reps at the Social Luxe party, Henna tattoo courtesy of the wonderful women also at the party)
-
- Sometimes, you've gotta hang out with the Wizard of Oz guys and enjoy it.
-
- I still love NYC with the passion of a thousand suns. Some of the best of the entire week was just walking around the city by myself. I'd live there if I had no kids, but then I'd have no blog material, and you all would never know that I moved to NYC. But then I could run in Central Park. LOVE IT.
-
- Wear the good shoes but bring some comfy ones as well.
- Maybe I don't need to wax my 'stache.(Pic courtesy of the fantastic Alli - I want to be here when I grow up. If I ever do.)
-
- Bring your feminine protection. You will get "the period", as the cashier at the drugstore asked when I bought $29 worth of product. Even if you aren't due for a week. AHEM. Sorry to cause the mass menstrualization of the conference.
- Some of my most favorite people ever were in attendance. (Deb Rocks, Cecily, Kendra, Alli, Barbara - the creators of Blissfully Domestic, and about a kajillion more.
- I think St. Patricks is haunted. Story to follow tomorrow.
PS - I have
two articles up at Blogher. Detailing back to school. Which, oh my heavens, is coming up. Eeeek.
Sounds like you had a wonderful trip!

Now I'm even more regretful that I didn't get to NY (in a good way).

Re the accepting compliments: I have a friend of serves as cantor at Mass. When you compliment her on a beautiful rendition of a Communion hymn, the response is along the lines of, "I think I was flat, it didn't look like the congregation was inspired." One of my pet peeves. The only necessary response is, "Thank you." The congregation wasn inspired?--I don't see any of them volunteering to lead the singing.
If you throw a compliment back at someone, it questions their judgment, comprehension, hearing.
Will step down from the soapbox, now.

What about the custom dress you ordered? Did it arrive? Did it fit? Would you order another one? Burning questions!
