Take out your number 2 pencils. I hope you've studied - because today's quiz comes to you courtesy of The Full Moon. And it promises to be a doozy. (PS - the formatting is weird but it looked ok in the dash - and I'm, ahem, too grumpy to fix it.)
Question 1- Your children have a day off from school. Do you:
a) plan a day full of enriching activites, possibly including a picnic lunch and a museum?
b) call another mother, commiserate over the injustice done to you both by the school or
c) tell your husband not to wake you and plan to sleep in, letting the kids take care of themselves while you luxuriate under the covers past 5:45?
a) bound out of bed with a cheerful spirit, corralling the yelling child and finding a diverting
activity to calm the beast
b) tell your husband to handle it, knowing that your time is up but get out of bed anyway or
c) pull the covers over your head, stick your fingers in your ears and go back to sleep?
Question 3 - The high school child comes to you complaining that she doesn't feel well and she threw up. Do you:
a) think to yourself, Well, her sister had the stomach flu, and let said child skip school
b) Know that said child has a special friend visiting that causes said child to get nausea in
the mornings and once she gets moving, she'll be fine, so encourage her to take a hot
shower, have some tea or coffee and learn to move through the day or
c) send her back to bed with the offer to sleep in until 8, but if she's not better, she forfeits
her weekend plans - knowing that this will cure the stomach ache AND let you go back
to sleep
Question 4 - You start to brush a smaller child's hair and realize that one entire side is matted to her
head. Upon further inspection, you discover that said child has apparently coated her head
with half of a tube of toothpaste. Do you:
a) wet the hair, making a joke about minty freshness, and calmly set about combing the
hair to a silky smooth finish
b) cut the stupid tangle out. The kid has tons of hair, no one will miss a little (a lot) or
c) tell her "It's your own fault. I don't have time to wash your hair until I take your sister
to school. If people laugh at you, remember that next time and don't rub toothpaste in
your hair."
Question 5 - One child has not stopped fighting/screaming/crying/hitting/pushing/fighting/brawling
since she first woke. Do you:
a) realize her blood sugar is low and she needs a structured morning, so you feed her
a high protein snack, pull out the play doh and put on a movie
b) sit her on your lap, knowing she probably needs attention and a little quiet time or
c) send her to her room to cry it out
My, isn't this a fun quiz? How many have you gotten correct? Just a few more, and then the BONUS ROUND.
Question 6 - It's a balmy 72 degrees outside and your three younger children have spent the past 2 hours
sitting on the sofa bickering, being sent to their rooms for fighting, and screaming nonstop
at each other and you. Do you:
a) encourage them to play outside with a cheerful voice, detailing all of the fun things
that they can do and, in fact, go out with them, losing yourself in the joy of sidewalk
chalk and the freedom of bubbles and revel in the fact that it's a beautiful day and
you are together, never mind the chores stacked up, they will be there later!
b) send them outside with some random toys and lots of creative ideas or
c) yell at them to GET OUTSIDE, ALREADY when they come back in the house for the
19th time hunting for light sabers/complaining about bugs/reporting a death of thirst due
to extreme heat and fatigue and when is lunch, anyway and Gosh, Mom, why are you SO
cranky? No one ELSE'S mom is this mean! as you recall your childhood of hours outside
amusing yourself and wonder why your mom never had to deal with so much argument
Question 7 - Pay your bills. Notice at at the end, your bank balance is in the 4 figures. Do you:
a) grumble about the fact that those four figures are separated by a decimal point in
between and hope no one gets sick
b) be grateful! And happy! And thankful! That you have a job and you and your husband
can work all month long and take each other out for 49 cent ice cream cones or
c) Cut the milk with water and hope no one notices
Time for the bonus round!
You decide that you are hungry and a second cup of beverage might be a good idea. Maybe, after all, the headache you've been nursing is caused by dehydration and lack of protein. Eating could very well improve your mood. Do you choose:
a) scrambled eggs, cut up fruit and a large smoothie or
b)
Well, how did you do? Did you pass?
Is it 5 o'clock yet?

Mostly c's but ah I sent my kids out in the rain to play in the slushy snow. It's almost ice falling from the sky so not as well I guess as real rain. You've got 4 figures? Seriously...? uh that never happens here unless they are followed by a -

I was thinking of the "7 c's" (seven seas) and sure enough, if I'm being honest ...
Although, my son has the day off today and I work a full-time corporate job (albeit from home today, and clearly checking blogs over my lunch), and he's off to child care, protesting the whole time that 10-year-olds do not NEED child care. Maybe I get a "d" on that one.

I vote C all the way! Yesterday at our house was much like this, if not a D option kind of day. Bleah.

I am hoping that this weekend gets better.

All the C's for me! It's half term school holiday here, so far yesterday the youngest was sick and today it snows, and they're both snuffly! Fab.

ha ha ha
mine would all be the non pc choices...but they're my choices and hell I'll yell at my kids if I want to ;)

Very clever post. You had me laughing hard with Question #4. Unfortunately, I am mostly a "c" person myself.
