Vaughn Aten. My Grandma. Killed by a Driver who chose to run a red light. She joins my Grandpa, who died in 1992, and my other four grandparents who predeceased her as well. I know that I'm lucky to have had a larger than normal number of grandparents, and to have had them as long as I did. I wasn't close to my grandmother in recent times, but I will treasure the memories that I had from my younger years. I remember my grandparents coming to visit us in their Airstream. They'd park it in the drive and visit with us. We'd drive to visit them in the summer and although she was diabetic, Grandma would always make sure we had treats.
I will always keep the memories of the special joys we have shared close to my heart.

I am really sorry for your loss. And really angry at the person who chose to have no respect for somebody else's life and chose to run that red light.

I'm very sorry. I can relate to the distant memories. I only saw my maternal grandmother as a grade school child because of the miles between us, but I still have memories of helping her do laundry with the wringer washer and the laundry bluing and stick--really showing my age there!

I'm so sorry for your loss. I never intensely grieved over the death of either of my grandmothers but always think of them with a kind of longing ache. The memories are priceless.
I also hope that this will remind people to stop for red lights. I don't know how many people have to be killed for us to learn this lesson.

I am sorry for your loss. I also had my grandparents longer than most. (One is still with us.) It doesn't make it any easier when you lose them.
