It's a deeply polarizing issue, one that threatens to split our people clearly in two separate - yet equally diverse - halves, and I'm curious to know where you, my lovely readers, stand.
Are you ready? It's such a divisive question that I'm almost afraid to ask.
Will you get up to watch the Royal Wedding?
Or do you just not care?
Me? Meh.
I was up at 4 to see Princess Diana wed, and up for the funeral - I was awake and nursing/rocking an infant Mackenzie at the time - but I'm so definitely not getting up for this one. I'll admit that I do have some interest in seeing the dress and if she chooses to wear a tiara, but not enough to get up at 4.
What are your thoughts?

Not getting up, but can't wait to see the dress when I wake up. And the tiara too!

Nope, definitely not getting up to watch. I'm sure I'll see a picture of the dress at some point...I don't really care about it truthfully!

My sister-in-laws are getting up and having a party, complete with hats and gloves! I am not. I have to be at work at 7am. I can Tivo the darn thing if I so choose and watch later. I don't remember getting up to watch Diana's wedding but I do remember seeing it so maybe I did?

oh? was that today?

DVRing the whole preshow, wedding, aftershow...blah, blah. Then watching it when I get up Friday.

I'm not getting up to watch it, but I'll probably turn on the TV to see a little bit of the festivities after everyone leaves for work and school. :) I have friends who are getting up and watching the whole thing and wearing tiaras and gloves...I guess if I had someone to watch it with and we could goof off like that, I might do it, but right now, with a new baby, sleep is very precious to me :)

I am and I took the day off from work! I wasn't born when Diana got married but was up and watched her funeral with my mom. So this is my generations big royal wedding!

I will DVR it so I can see the dress and such. I watched Diana marry Charles and I was enthralled. I won't be waking up at that time though. Oh, and to answer your wonderings, they said yesterday that she will be wearing tiara the queen wore for her wedding. It is beautiful.

Can I get up at 5? I thought that would be early enough--or are you Central time? I'm interested, but not fanatical. I figure I can swap blog reading for the wedding for one day. After all, he's gonna be king someday, and I saw Di's, and went to an all night party for Fergi's.

It comes on here at 1 am. I'd really really like to but I think the DVR will have to do. Especially since I was awake at 4 today and up at 5. Oy, I'm going to be tired.

I'll be DVRing the heck out of it, but not waking up. Later in the p.m. my friend is having a tea party. I'll wear my hat for that one!

I'm DVRing everything BBCAmerica shows on Friday. Then, I can watch it or not. I'm really only recording in case something good or interesting happens. I don't want to rely on YouTube for my video.

Well it starts here at 1am. So not getting up or staying up (which would make more sense).I am sure they will show enough of it later on that I can watch the important parts if I want. I want to see her dress. She is such a pretty young woman.

Absolutely no way am I getting up early. There's pretty much nothing I'll get up at 4 a.m. for. I really don't care. I read a Newsweek article about Kate a few weeks ago, and it did up my respect for her and my interest in their wedding, but I'm not at all interested in watching it. I really don't care what she wears. I don't care if the Queen cries. I kinda care what food they'll be serving, but that's just because I'll be living vicariously through their taste buds.
However, one of my co-workers is taking the day off and will be watching and drinking mimosas.

No, not getting up for that -- we're usually up at 4:45 anyway. Except that my daughter and I are driving to Cleveland (~4 hours away) to attend a royal wedding party and then back again tomorrow evening. Getting gussied up and everything. Should be fun.

Honestly I'll at the least DVR it, but may watch it live as well if I can drag my butt out of bed. I doubt I would be as interested if I weren't in "wedding mode" planning my own wedding, and I am DYING to see her dress!

I'm totally getting up! Can't wait!
Posted by: Jennifer | April 28, 2011 at 01:29 PM
I'm not going to get up, but I am going to Tivo it. I love watching all those wedding shows on TLC to see the dresses, so this is like the grand daddy of wedding shows. Can't wait to see her dress!

I will be up and I can't wait. I have been watching every show on BBC and TLC about the upcoming event. I go to London in June and can't wait to see things in person and buy souvenirs! I loved Princess Diana. Needless to say I am pumped!!!

i'm pretty sure her dress will look the same online and on every news/talk show in the light of day as it will at 1am on the West Coast. In other words-heck no!
Posted by: Julie | April 28, 2011 at 02:29 PM
I'm curious about it, but not getting up so early! Though here in Az it might be a bit later, but... so thank Heaven for my DVR! LOL
Posted by: Laura H | April 28, 2011 at 02:31 PM
No. It'll be rerun so many times in so many ways that I will NOT sacrifice what little sleep I get to watch.
Posted by: LizP | April 28, 2011 at 03:00 PM
I asked my girls (ages 9 and 7) if they wanted to get up and they said yes. I think I'll buy some tea (or lemonade) and serve it in fancy cups just to be silly, to try to make getting up at 4 am something memorable for them. We don't have DVR or TIVO, and I think they will enjoy watching it live. We'll see how it turns out. :)

The preview is on the telly at 8.30am, my kids are still on Easter holidays(2-feckin-weeks), we ALL like to sleep as long as possible, therefore I will be sky plusing it(tivo to you)I can't wait to see the style, all the guests, her dress, the whole thing actually. Although I can't help but get choked up when I think of Diana missing her son's wedding, has me in floods of tears
