Forward with Ford - Part 1
Forward with Ford - Part 2
My younger son has worn his hair in a buzz cut for close to, I dunno, 5 years. He has beautiful hair, but he has several cowlicks and he despises wearing what he terms hair goo to help the cowlicks lay down and so he just asked us to get rid of all his hair. In fact, both of my boys wear their hair closely cut for the same reasons.
For about three years, my husband has cut my younger son's hair at home. Last year, he taught me to do it.
I was wildy unsure and nervous, but his reassurance that it's really not that hard combined with the fact that a ton of my friends cut their boys hair - and I ponied up my guts and did it.
And it was easy. So I've cut his hair - number 2, square around, neat on the sides - for a while now.
But my son decided to let his hair grow out over the summer.
But he'd made a teeny mistake.
He cut all around the head with a number 2. He took the guard off and clean cut the hairline, above the ears and the nape. Then he noticed a small area that needed a trim -
and so he just touched the clipper to the area -
without replacing the guard.
Yeah. Like that.
So then we had this enormous "discussion" over whether or not the child needed a trip to the barber to have the haircut fixed - yes, yes he most certainly did - and even though there's no school in, my feeling was that there was NO way in hell I would let my son walk around like this for what my husband said would be "just a couple of weeks". Seriously? As if? I offered to give my husband the same haircut, but it was all I'm a professional and I have to deal with customers and don't you dare touch my hair.
So I took him to the barber shop and after the barber finished chuckling - he buzzed over his head with a number 1 - and then gave him a high and tight fade.
Don't let your daddy cut your hair is our new family motto.

oh my I just cut one of my son hair today and was scared becuase he went two months without a haircut and it grew like carol brady hair- usually he has a military buzz but he grew it for fun..oh wow- I trimmed it and told him we will finish tomm there was so much hair I was afraid

I cut my Son's and my hubs hair. Only once did I have a flub and I blame that on a squirmy nine year old. *g* Yeah, a barber was the right way to go.

I would have shaved him tight and clean to the head and called it a day. I don't get worked up about my son's hair. I can sheer it off in 2 minutes. Now if someone touched any of my girls heads I could end up in prison. I recently cut off 2 FEET! of my hair. It is at my shoulders now. One of my daughters wanted her hair cut the same way. I did a good job if I say so myself. The other girls cried because I cut my hair and then loved the new style. It will, however, be the last time I cut it like this. New journey, new hair.
