Gabriel, Allegra and I are in the Black Belt rotation - we began last month and are slated to earn the Black Belt in Muay Thai boxing in December. I have my doubts if I will make it, but Gabriel and Allegra will for certain.
The run is tripping me up. Literally. I can run a mile in ten minutes, but when I try to take it faster, my repaired gastrocnemius - the one I tore two years ago - cramps up and I have to walk. It makes me crazy and it irritates me and I have an appointment to see the sports orthopedist on the 9th.
But Gabe asked me if I could share his endurance round with you, and that's what this post is about.
Everyone who makes their black belt has to accomplish certain levels of training. Sit ups, push ups and three endurance rounds. Today was the first test. 60 sit ups in 2 minutes. 21 push ups for girls, 45 for boys and the first round. 30 kicks, 15 knees in 1:30. Gabe was petrified. I don't even know if that is the correct word - is there another word that is more powerful? Cuz whatever that word would be, that was him. He obsessed about it all day and was almost in tears before - but he did it.
I am very proud of him.

But he did it. Gabe, you can do anything.

Good for Gabe! He is truly inspiring.
Is the male voice yelling through most of it someone instructing Gabe, or the other guy, or someone else entirely?

Wow he looks like quite the tiger! That is so fantastic. Just the skill of not falling over after every kick is blowing me away! Gabe really kicks butt and it's cool to see such devotion to something. Working toward a black belt...outstanding!

I had never heard of Muay Thai boxing before reading your blog. I watched that video and my stomach clenched up and I got all tense and wanted to kick stuff! That looks amazingly challenging (endurance, strength, balance), and Gabe did awesome! Very cool.

He looks soooo awesome! Good for him :D I couldn't do that LOL. Despite looking exhausted at the end, he hung in like a champ!

Thanks! I only read mysteries so it's nice to have some other recommendations.
I didn't read "The Help" but I LOVED the movie. Saw it with my 20 year old daughter and she loved it to.

He is AMAZING! I love how he put in all that hard work and you could see it pay off.
My kid would *love* this video if he were awake right now :)
