One of the things that I love most about my neighborhood is, well, the neighbors themselves.
Well, yeah, there's this one family...
Kidding.
The vast majority of the neighbors are awesome people. They watch out for my kids, have kids in the same age groups, and we have two functions every year that are neighborhood based. There are 42 houses in the subdivision, and I'd venture to say that at least 30 of them have kids. Many of the families have been here since we moved in, 9 years ago today.
Yup. We moved in to our house on Halloween. Emma was an infant and I have firm memories of the moving men bringing in the beds as I stuffed her into a pea in a pod costume and we strolled around this new place.
Every Halloween, we meet at the end of the street and have a party, followed by a parade. When we first started, we had a couple of bags of chips and some juice, but it's grown every year. This year we had scary punch, wrapped hot dogs, trail mix, spinach dip, a veggie platter, pizza, cheese sticks -
and donuts. Specifically donuts on a string. I love my neighborhood.
Happy Halloween, y'all.

that looks like so much fun.

It's hard to compete with donuts on a string! Yum! My favorite photo is the last one.

I had to look up donuts on a string, because I could only figure that such a configuration would be used for human fishing (and I'd be caught hook, line, and sinker! LOL).
Your neighborhood seems delightful -- happy anniversary, especially in a place befitting your family.
