I also hate being scared and clowns - ugh. And the candy - ridiculous. I freeze most of it, soon they forget it is even around and viola, I can toss it.

Hope you get some satisfaction from the business. Hard to believe in this economy customer service is the first thing to go.

Megan

I'm not a major fan of Halloween either. I don't hate it, but I get tired of hearing about it by the time it actually comes around.

Oh, yes, I know all about the bad customer service at a place where you spend lots of time and money. The same thing happens to me all the time, and my options are either suck it up or give up an activity I love altogether. I feel for you on that one.

Good luck with the wisdom teeth. I got mine out several years ago, and it wasn't too bad. I think the side effects from the Vicodin were worse than anything else.

Halloween is my favorite holiday.

In my neck of the woods, it's a great reason for kids and adults to dress-up, act a little silly and have a good time.

It's low-stress, no presents required, no family pressure, no gifts, no travel, no expectations from others kind of thing. Just thinking about Thanksgiving and Christmas gives me heart palpitations and makes me need a Xanax.

It's candy, costumes, adult beverages and fun...

Brenda

I decided years ago to not stress about the candy. I hate doling it out for weeks. I just let them have full access to it and within 3-4 days, they've eaten what they want and we toss the rest about a week after Halloween. I guess I should clarify that our kids don't get that much to begin with because we just don't stay out that long. What's weird is that my oldest, who is almost 12,has already wondered if she'll trick or treat next year. Sniff.

I always enjoy your SOC posts! I haven't commented much lately, but I have been reading all your posts. Impacted wisdom teeth, potentially cracked rib; you know I'm so jealous at the fun you get to have... only, not really. Hang in there!

Carrie

I'm not a big Halloween fan either. The costumes are fun for the kids but really having kids go begging for something that isn't good for them anyways bothers me. I live in Utah and my mother-in-law's LDS Stake does a trunk-or-treat/dinner which is actually a lot of fun. People decorate their trunks in the church parking lot and the kids go around and they pass out treats. I like it because they don't allow masks or scary things. I hate being scared too. HATE.IT. I don't get too uptight about it but it really is a holiday that I could do without.

Brandy

I don't like being scared, either. However, I love Halloween. I have a blast watching all the little kids trick-or-treat and see what they wear for costumes. My kids get tons of candy, but they don't eat it all. As a matter of fact I usually have to throw it away after a week or so. As for Thanksgiving? I am so sick of Turkey that I've asked the family if we could do something else this year. Like lasagna.

Brenda

Now that I have no more trick-or-treaters (too old), I would like to just hand out Halloween candy (I would even do full-sized bars!) the neighbors' kids. Let me further clarify that group to include the nice, young kids with manners. The heck with the rest. I dislike kids standing at the door with their bags open and their sense of entitlement. They rarely say thank you! It annoys me to no end, and I would like to just turn off the lights and make them walk on by!

Kay

Add Halloween to the list of things that I just don't get. Never have, even as a kid. I think it is ridiculous to spend money on a costume that is worn one time and for my kids to get all hyped up about something that lasts about 90 minutes. I agree with you, Tuesday can't be here fast enough.

Lesli

Halloween isn't my thing, never has been. And I also love Thanksgiving, hands down the best holiday. It's just..cozy. But I also do the Halloween thing for the kids. They like it alright, of course they love the candy, but my oldest has worn the same costume the last four years as he just really doesn't care *that* much. Also, does anyone really like clowns? Ever since Poltergeist they're not a favorite of mine. Even before that, come to think of it. My driver's ed instructor was a clown (for real, on the side), and I wasn't too fond of him, either. ;)
