This post might be weird. I definitely think I'm weird, but maybe I'm not alone.
Can a scent conjure a memory for you?
I take Core class on Monday mornings at 8:30 and while I was waiting for the building to open, I realized I had to, um, visit the necessary.
(if you use old school terminology, it TOTALLY sounds sophisticated.)
As soon as I smelled it, I was reminded of my grandfather. My mom's father. He was a working man, always puttering around in the garage, tinkering with the motor on this or applying grease to that. He was a kind man, a generous man, who was most often quiet but occasionally ripped something out that cracked you up - mostly because it was so unexpectedly witty and quite often, funny. He was a working man, who had working man's hands and a working man's smell about him.
As scents go, it wasn't unpleasant - quite the contrary, it was a warm memory - and I could almost see him.
Has that ever happened to you? Did a scent bring you a memory - and was it a pleasant time?
PS - today I attended a fourth funeral. I'm thinking that all of these funerals must be leading up to something.
In my house, if you don't like the vegetable offered (broccoli), you can take your footy pajama self over and peel a carrot.
