So, I finally went through the stack of business cards that I received at Blogher. Some of them I knew I wouldn't be able to connect with - but there was a small stack that I'd purposely kept separate in my bag. It was a set of about ten cards. The majority of these were women I'd met very, very briefly at the Writing Lab I attended - I was late there, having to wait until the last Geek Bar session had started - and leaving early - in order to be in attendance for the people leaving the Geek Bar and to thank the session leaders.
But there were a couple of blogs represented in the Writing Lab that I felt spoke to me, and I finally, a week later, added this handful of blogs to my bookmarks (I don't use a reader, I'm old fashioned that way) and Liked their pages on Facebook.
I found these questions on one of the blogs - ktmade - and although she directed them to those who have small blogs, defined as less than 200 followers - I love a good set of questions as much as anyone and thought I'd swipe it. I've had this blog for more than ten years, and you probably know an AWFUL LOT about me - but maybe not as much as I think. There's no privacy in this place, that's for sure.
:)
What do you eat for breakfast? Coffee. A smoothie if it's a Core class day - Monday or Wednesday. Oatmeal or Cream of Wheat if it's cold. Eggs and Boar's Head ham and cheese on a french toast bagel if I'm really splurging - or hungry, or I've just been to the grocery and Panera, lol.
What's your favorite television show? Currently? None. I enjoy, somewhat, the cooking shows, and I love me some professional football. I LOVE I Love Lucy and Little House on the Prairie. America's Got Talent is pretty good. I don't really watch much TV.
What did you want to be when you grew up when you were in kindergarten? My mom loves to tell the story where I said I'd like to be a nun or a go go dancer. Go figure.
What food would you never eat? Beets. Organ meat.
When was the last time you got a speeding ticket? I was pulled over on my niece's wedding day. I'd just found out I was pregnant and I wasn't happy, and there was a ton of stress ongoing for the wedding. This was in 2009, I think. I was crying while driving, and was pulled over. Emma was the only one in the car with me, and the police office said, "Ma'am? Do you know how fast you are going?" To which Emma piped up, "You should give her a ticket! She was going too fast and that's not safe!" I, uh, cried harder - and wanted to kill her. I had a miscarriage shortly thereafter.
How many pairs of shoes do you own? Before I answer, I'm guessing 25 and my husband guessed 30 I'm gonna go count and I'll be right back with the answer....
34.
I have two pairs in my wishlist on Amazon. And I could probably get rid of about 8 pairs that I never wear, and that includes rain boots and winter boots and flip flops and clogs and sandals and trainers and Zumba shoes. How many do you have?? Hmmm???
What are your favorite blogs? Oh, I'm not going there. I'll leave someone off and hurt someone's feelings. I have a set of about ten I check every single day and about twenty or thirty more I check every couple of days. Let's turn it around - who are YOUR favorite blogs?
What's your guilty pleasure? Laying down my bed in the middle of the afternoon with a book and the phone turned off.
How many hours a night do you sleep? On average, 6-7. So not nearly enough. If I could stay asleep - stoopid insominia - I'd sleep 10.
Have you ever had a nickname that you hated? Oh, yes, this is easy. I hate Carm or the like. Carm brings to mind a single, middle aged man sitting in his mom's basement watching child porn. So, there you go. HATE nicknames of any kind. There's only 6 letters in my name. It's not long. No need to nickname it.
What are you afraid of? Fire. Death. One of my kids dying.

When anyone asks my favorite blog, I tell them it's my own. They either think I am a raging egomaniac (guilty) or get my point and drop it. I will, however, happily recommend blogs to someone that I know, based on their interests--that seems different than naming favorites.

-->I've had tons of nicknames over the years but the worst one was what my older and brother called me when I was little. I've never reminded them of it either or told my husband because I don't want to be called it again, even as a joke.
Consistently, one of of my favorite bloggers is at http://www.blueskiesandyellowdogs.com.
