Haha! I'm not laughing at you, it's just that I can relate, though on a much smaller scale (I only have 4 kiddos, 3 being school-aged). Hang in there! While I am partly glad that school is about to start (Sept. 2nd for us Oregonians), I'm really not a fan of back-to-school stuff and all the pressures/ expectations that come with it. It's such a different pace, but I guess I'll adjust! ;)

Stacey B.

Yep, you summed it up perfectly!

Kathryn

GOD LOVE YOU Carmen. I could not have said it better. I laughed and teared up as I read this. Ditto and Ditto to inifinit!!

Well said! I have been feeling the same way as of late....I am getting MYSELF ready to go back to school in November to earn a Bachelors in Nursing...what was I thinking? Oh....myself for a change.

Amen Amen Amen Amen A-FREAKING-MEN!

Ugh. I wish I did not relate so well to this, but it's EXACTLY like that.

I typed out a huge long list likes yours and then deleted it because nobody wants to read that. But it ended like this:
"and and and and and and and and and and and ARGGGGGHHHHH!"

Sendin' you good vibes and the drink of your choice.

Cathy

:)

1. You will find the uniforms as soon as the kids have uniforms.

2. I tell my family that my super power is "finding" (it works better if I've been home recently, less well if I've been on travel.)

YEP!

O.M.G.... this is my life right now. I had a little (ok, HUGE) meltdown about it last weekend. You are not alone. I only have 2 kids at home, but I teach preschool "part-time" (yeah, doesn't exist) and have 18 there. My own kids went back to school a few weeks ago (and have since been sick... fun!) and I have been running like crazy to get my own things ready for my class.

Sometimes, I remember where the stupid, random polly pocket shoe is but can't remember my own name!

*I* easily get lost in the shuffle of crazy... to the point where I don't even recognize myself. When I'm cranky and grumpy with my family, they just look at me and say "geez, Mum... take a break". (these people, including DH who haven't been running full tilt for weeks...) they have no clue. None.

And yet... I see my own responsibility in this too. :)

Yes!!

Thank you for posting this "crazy" for us all to see....I think SO MANY of us are THERE RIGHT NOW. How in the world can any ONE PERSON, even a supermom/wife/writer be expected to do ALL OF THAT??? YIKES! I laughed and teared up too, like Kathryn.

Zak

If I would have read this at 18, I would have become a nun.

About Me

  • Carmen Staicer is a whirlwind of energy and execution, who never sleeps and drinks way too much coffee. She works from home as Social Media Programs Manager for SheKnows, and is the mom to six kids, most of whom play instruments, sing or dance and all of whom are much smarter than she will ever be. In other words, her house is never ever quiet or still. A concentration of asthma, food allergies, spectrum disorders and learning disabilities means that she spends an awful lot of time second guessing herself and Dr. Googling, as well as learning to cook everything the family might like to eat. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, boxing (she has her Black Belt in Muay Thai), sleeping, exploring coffee shops, photography, ballet class and cooking. She excels in being a smart mouth and has her major in sarcasm, with a dual minor in BS studies and avoiding laundry.
