I had a family recipe like that. I have the recipe, but unfortunately one distinctive ingredient - ring-shaped pasta - is not available where I live. It was a casserole that also called for creamed corn and chicken and rice soup and green peppers. It didn't have a ton of flavor but was my go-to comfort food growing up. Likewise, I keep bags of instant mashed potatoes on hand because my kids would get a craving for them whenever they were sick.

I agree on the peas! Frozen PETITE peas only in my book.

  • Carmen Staicer is a whirlwind of energy and execution, who never sleeps and drinks way too much coffee. She works from home as Social Media Programs Manager for SheKnows, and is the mom to six kids, most of whom play instruments, sing or dance and all of whom are much smarter than she will ever be.
