So, a while back, I posted about my need and desire to have a well organized spice rack.
Happily, I was successful.
I knew that I want jars, but I wasn't sure if I wanted a sealed jar, or a jar with a twisting lid. I couldn't find anything I really liked locally, so I took to the web, like much of my shopping. I found these jars at World Market - and they came in two sizes. I ordered one set of the larger ones for spices I use often, and I have two extras in case I can think of other things I want to store.
Then, labeling. I have the handwriting of a doctor on crack, so I knew it would have to be preprinted labels or I'd have to pay someone to write them for me - I mean, after all, I wanted a nice display, right? I took to Etsy, one of my favorites, and found this seller, who was fantastic and easy to work with and even though I ended up ordering two sets - I got exactly what I wanted.
I went to Lowe's and Home Depot and Target and Wal-Mart and Michael's and @Home and could NOT find the shelving I wanted. So my husband built these, from a 2x4 and a piece of fancy trim. He drilled into the wall beams with a 1/2 inch drill bit with 4.5 inch screws, predrilled the 2x4 and countersank the heads of the screws halfway into the 2x4.
I do not even know what I just typed. He said the words and I typed - much like my life.
I think it's great, and I am super happy with it.
One note: I purposely have smaller bottles, because I don't like to keep large amounts of spices on hand. I'd rather buy them fresh and often.
