The rule I need to remember the most is
ALWAYS take your camera with you.
When driving my shorties to school this morning, I sat at the stop light and looked across as the lake - and I was absolutely mesmerized to see a mist rising from the lake. It was breathtaking. Of course, we were running late - and the only camera I had with me was my iPhone, and as good as it is - there's no way I could have captured the sight.
So I dropped them, ran home, grabbed my camera and drove back as quickly as I could and captured a few shots, right before the sun rose too high and burned everything off.
And this one I shot from my hip - I was on my way to the truck and heard the birds overhead and flipped the camera up and took a few shots while I was struggling with grabbing my keys from my pocket. I call it
