I love chocolate.
I love candy.
When I was asked by the gorgeous powers that be at Blogher if I wanted to check out the new Premium M&M's, I didn't even have to think about it. "YES!" I remember typing. "Yes a thousand times!" I assumed I'd receive a few coupons, maybe pick up a few free boxes of candy and be done with it.
Um, no. Not exactly. The company sent me FIVE CASES of M&M Premiums - 12 boxes EACH of Mocha, Mint Chocolate, Triple Chocolate, Raspberry Almond, and Chocolate Almond. There were others asked to review - and we all enjoyed the heck out of these amazing candies. I don't think anyone had quite the fabulous experience I had with these candies, though.
My daughter turned eleven and we threw a birthday pool party for her. Somehow, I planned the party, bought the food, decorated the house, organized games - and forgot to buy gifts for the prizes for the games. I looked around in a panic - what on earth could I give these girls when they won the relay race, the seashell challenge, or the hula hoop toss? A packet of spaghetti? A can of green beans? A used candle? I flew through the house, mentally choosing and discarding items, and suddenly, my eyes fell on the cases of M&M Premiums. That's IT! I'll give the girls candy!
When we got to the pool, the girls jumped and dunked, shouted and splashed, and generally had a great time. No one wanted to get out of the pool for the games - UNTIL I showed them the prizes. Suddenly, I was swarmed by girls - "Pick me! Pick me!" they shouted. "I want to play!"
We hula hooped, jumped, ran with sea shells on our feet and I swear, I've never seen these girls more competitive in my life. They couldn't WAIT to get their hands on the M&M's, and as soon as one girl won, she'd rip open the box and everyone would descend. "Oh, yum! I love the mint!" exclaimed one. "The triple chocolate is my favorite!" called another. It was unanimous - the candies were a huge hit.
The adults at the party were in equal agreement. We noshed on candy until we couldn't see straight, and the parents each begged for their own box to take home. Happily, I had enough to oblige. (I had left a couple of boxes at home for my husband - the Almond versions were his favorite.)
Thanks so much to M&M Premium and Blogher for helping to make my daughter's eleventh birthday party a fun, fabulous hit! The girls can't wait to come next year - they have already requested a return of the M&M's Premiums! What a fun, fabulous hit!
