I was recently sent my choice of swimsuit from Popina Swimswear. The opinions expressed herein are only my own.
I first found Popina's BEAUTIFUL bathing suits when I was searching for vintage clothing one day. I do love me some vintage clothing. From the front page of the website: Popina (Poppi) Swimwear is a woman owned, Designer Swimwear line based in Portland, Oregon. We believe you don't have to "show it all" to be Sexy. Our Conservative, Vintage 1950's Inspired Women's Swimsuit line, MADE IN THE USA, provides Modest Swimwear designs which are fun, flattering and fashionable, drawing Retro Swimsuit inspiration from Vintage Swimwear styles of the past.
OMG. Vintage, conservative, 1950's - all words that SPEAK to me deep inside the recesses of my mind. I looked at all of the choices, and it was really tough to pick just one. I could have cheerfully fashioned myself quite a wardrobe of nothing but beautifulness. After all, in the summer, I basically live in a bathing suit - between the pool, the beach and the neighborhood pool. But I had to choose just one, and so I went with this gorgeous red and white polka dot beauty.
Sorry. The pics of me didn't come out, for some reason. I think it was operator error - NEVER give a hyperactive 12 year old a DSLR. Take my advice.
Retro Swimwear is something that, in my opinion, there isn't enough of. In fact, judged by the comments that I received from the other ladies at the pool, retro swimwear is a hot, hot commodity. I don't think I've ever heard so many kind remarks about a swimsuit - not that I think I look like all THAT in my bathing suit. I think it's the suit.
I also own the Jantzen Vamp (purchased by me) in black and it's cute, but NOTHING like the Grace. Popina offers Tankinis as well, for those who want the freedom of a two piece without a ton of Le Belly showing. (You know who you are, and living in a beach town, I have seen MANY women who maybe should follow this concept a bit better.)
The swimsuit I have, the Grace, is well constructed, with heavy duty seams and a thick, flattering, fabric comprising the suit. The colors are vibrant and true with absolutely no fading. The color of the swimsuit is as true as when it came out of the package.
Often, I find that swimsuits lack proper support for my chestal area - with the end result being that I'm afraid to move too much, never mind jumping off the side of the pool. Heaven forbid I have to chase a kid - there'd be a earthquake in a lesser suit. The top of the suit contains bra cups and, combined with the next strap,
supports my gazonga bosoms with very little jiggling.
If you are in the market for a Retro Swimsuit - and, really, I think that we all should be, for who among us couldn't use a little beauty and style and looking like a 1950's pin up sure does wonders for my ego - Popina Swimwear has graciously offered each reader here a 15% off code. Simply enter the word "carmen" in the field and you'll enjoy a super discount on, what is to me, one of the most well made and flattering bathing suits I've ever had the pleasure of placing on my body.
In addition, if you live in Va Beach, these gorgeous suits are sold at Meg's. Get thee to the store, already!

When did Bathing suits start requiring selling off of the children? OMG!

Both the Jantzen and the Grace are beautiful. Wish we were going on vacation so I had an excuse to buy one.

That mimics the rough shark denticles to reduce drag along key areas of the body. Characteristics of the fabric improve shape retention and increase muscle compression to reduce vibration and retain muscle shape to reduce fatigue and loss of power.
