About ELFF

  • Losing weight is hard. Exercise is hard. I know all too well - I've tried a hundred times. This time, though, I was successful. This blog is the story of how I did it. If you are new here, welcome! Start with the About link, and then dive in to the archives. (Read more)

Check in

What are you up to?

I did weight work at the gym today.  I walked three miles.

What about you?

Tomorrow, I'm taking my kids to a local amusement park, where I'm certain to walk at least four miles. Maybe more.  The challenge for tomorrow will not be getting my exercise, but eating correctly - this park will not let you bring any food in, and it's a hike to get to your car if you pack food.  Plus, hello, I'm not up for returning to the car with all kids.

What will you do for exercise this weekend?  What challenges will you face and how will you overcome them?

Tomorrow is the first Sat. without baseball in over 2 months. I will sleep in then walk-probably about 4-5 miles. I need it bad.HD said that it has been the coldest April in 117 years here. No wonder I have wanted to stay in my little nest. But now that I'm going to BlogHer I have a 3rd incentive to stay on track!

I'm going to run or run/walk seventeen miles today on the bike trail with my Team in Training, after which I will help set up, run and take down a fund raising Game Night (my hubby and daughter will help). I will overcome any challenges associated with these activities through the support of others and the judicious use of energy gels. Tomorrow, I think I'll pack my body in a tub of ice,LOL!
Oh, Carmen, you have fun, ya hear?

Ahhhhhhh! It's race day:) 13.1 miles. Whew - wish me luck:)

I did my mini last week...so this week was a much lighter week due to recovery. Today, I wanted to run, but had to get my house ready for Mother's Day and lunch for tomorrow. I also am helping with a wedding today, so my challenge will be to make sure I take some healthy snacks with me: carrots and an orange.

I teach Sunday School tomorrow so I may not be able to get a run in unless I can get it in after doing all of my school work (grading and planning) and having a meeting at church early in the afternoon. I guess I'll just continue my activity after this weekend and be deliberate about it next week.

Yesterday I bought running shoes. Today I used them. Holy smokes does it ever feel better to run with proper footwear! Now I just need a bra. (I remembered your trick of wearing two and it worked, but could use improvement since none of my regular bras fit properly. Stupid nursing, making my boobs a new size every month.)

Elff, I prefer strength training 3x a week to control my weight & shape.

I train really hard for 30-45 minutes. The more muscle weight you gain the more body fat you burn at rest.
