Is pretty cool. You can do what you want, when you want. Don't want to go to bed? NO problem - stay up until you feel like it. Don't want to do the dishes, the laundry or buy that present for your husband's boss? Then don't.
I didn't say that those things were wise, mind you. Merely that you have the option of making your own decisions. That pertains to diet and exercise as well.
Being an adult means that you have the ability to drive through McDonald's and grab a couple of hot, fresh baked cookies and no one will tell you no. It means that you can buy Starbucks for breakfast and Chili's for dinner, and no one will tell you no.
Except me. I'll tell you no.
You don't need to eat what you want, when you want. Just because there is a yummy, delicious cake downstairs doesn't mean that you need to go sneak a piece. Just because no one is riding your butt to jog the track doesn't mean that you don't need to do it anyway.
Be a grownup. Make the good choices. Eat the foods that your body needs - the lean protein, the green, red and orange vegetables, the salads and the fruit. Drink water. Drink more water than you think you need. Make yourself get out there and exercise. You'll be so happy that you did.

My inner child has been having tantrums when I go to the mall. She wants a pretzel, SBarro's pizza, and a Cinnabon. I have to tell her no. She is a real brat sometimes, but that's because I used to let her have ALL of those things in one trip, and then some. Your post is a good reminder to BE the grown up! I wouldn't give all that junk to my daughter... why do it to myself?

Huh. Didn't know I needed this until I read it. :) Tomorrow is the day I sit down and resolve to do this For the Last Time. This year's resolution will involve goal-setting, record-keeping, and actually writing it out in the hopes it sticks.
Hope you & your family had a restful holiday!

I guess I didn't realize that it was YOU who was leaving me a comment earlier! Wow! Do I feel special! ha! Ok, so seriously I am so glad I found your blog site because it has motivated me in a big and bad way. I'm pretty much at where you were before, and darn it I'm going to get my exercise in even if it kills me (ok, maybe not kill me...) Well got to tear my kids apart! Thanks again for stopping by!

Well said! I love being in control, but sometimes it would be nice to be told "no" when I am polishing off a second helping. Thank you for saying no. Now I am going to get up and do something.
