Or, at least, I'm going there. This not working out stuff is for the BIRDS.
I'm continuing with my upper body work, but the lack of cardio has seriously hampered my life. My pants are t-i-g-h-t. I've got to do something. Not to mention that without the ability to blow off steam, I'm feeling antsy and jittery, but at the same time alllll too comfy with grabbing a second helping - or adding in some higher calorie foods.
So. I've been given the all clear to recumbent bike - I'm up to 10 minutes, which feels PATHETIC - and elliptical - a ground swelling 5 minutes before my leg wimps out.
Anyone got any more ideas?

Hey, those teeny workouts are a start....
How 'bout the swimming pool!
Did you just LAUGH at my suggestion????
Yeah- I thought so. Congrats on the new writing gig... very cool!

I was going to suggest swimming too. There isn't much cardio that can be done on one leg.
Hang in there and soon enough you will be able to be off and running again.

I was going to say pool, too.
You're not the only one that has been lazy lately.

Another vote for swimming. How about a rowing machine?

Well, geez, I was going to be all Wisdom and Sunshine and say "Got access to a pool?" but apparently my genius is not unique...

Well atleast I'm not alone. I resorted to playing tennis on the wii over the break, I'm sure I'll get a lecture from my Dr in May

Swimming or water aerobics were my suggestions...
When I suffered my stress fracture last year, I used the recumbent bike for months until my leg mended, although it definitely does not burn the calories the elliptical or running do.

Since both my knees need to be replaced, I can't do any vigorous exercise and my doc has ruled out walking. I find Pilates to be just the thing for me. You could take a couple drop-in classes, so you see what proper form is and then just use DVDs and do it at home.

I would suggest biking if you can handle it.
