Lance Armstrong, Tour de France master, has an area on his Livestrong website that is actually pretty interesting. The Daily Plate is an online calorie counter, food diary and nutrition tracker. It does require registration, but once you do so, you have an unlimited area of knowledge at your fingertips. You can determine your daily calorie requirement, enter the foods you eat and the website tallies your intake and computes a breakdown of fat, cholestrol and calories. There are discussion boards and forums.
Would you use a site like this?

I do use it every day for food and exercise. I also can use it from my phone.

I would love to use a site like this, but I can't get onto the computer every time I eat or want to eat and by the end of the day... typing in my food journal for the day is just time consuming. Before I was a mom... I would be all over this like white on rice. :)Way to go Lance for giving people another free option.

Even though I am doing Weight Watchers and use their online tracker daily, I also use this daily plate site regularly - it has so much more information then the weight watchers site.

I'm just too cheap to pay for something I should be able to figure out myself, I was using fitlife for a bit. I've been spacing out on ww too, I haven't been to a meeting since before my surgery. I just kept looking at the 45.00 a month I was forking over ofr friends and meetings and thought, and who says I can't afford a retirement? hmmmm :)

I have actually been thinking of using a calorie counter. I don't think I'd use it every day (just can't see it working out with kids, work, etc.), but I think it may be a good idea to use it at least for a week to see what I am doing and how I should adjust my nutrition. Maybe I could then use it once a month or so to "check up" on things. I definitely think that it's important to be aware of all the things we are eating (or not eating!).

I've used fitday and sparkpeople, and they've both helped... for a limited time.

I keep a food diary and just google anything for which I don't know the calorie intake. Oftentimes The Daily Plate comes up as a result and I tend to trust their math more than other sites. I'm not registered there, though, and I'm not very good at keeping an online food diary because I rarely have access to a computer when I'm eating.

I do much better keeping a pen and paper food diary. More portable. But I'll check out that site. Fitday annoys me.

I was on The Daily Plate before Lance bought it - great site. Important to remember that it's all user-entered, so if some count seems wrong, good chance it might be. On the other hand, it's got TONS of restaurant info that's a pain to find other places.
It was a LOT easier to stick with when I was working at a desk full-time. As a stay-at-home mom - not so much.

I use MSN Health and Fitness, which has a lot of other cool tools, too. I found it when I opened a HealthVault account. I've also checked out the Daily Plate and Sparkpeople. I think these tools are really handy for accounting for what you put in your mouth, and discover surprising trends. I don't know if I would do it forever, but if it helps get the diet going and helps change up some bad habits, it's worth the time to keep up the journal.

I use Weight Watchers e-tools. I also like that MSN site that Lori mentioned. I get a kick out of "Eat This Not That." They're helpful and fun, but no tracking.
BTW: Last week I reached my ultimate WW goal and now will work the next 6 weeks to achieve a lifetime membership. My daughter just earned hers a few months ago.

I use a site like this as well. I map my runs, track calories, and figure out where I need to improve my nutrition. I think it is wonderful and really believe that it is one reason I have maintained weight loss.
