For years, I've heard the adage: Try something new. It might be a new sport, a new food, a new way to work.
I'm one of those people who has some fairly stringent food likes and dislikes. There's not many things I dislike - beets and organ meats top the list, but I also dislike carrots, cauliflower and fish.
I promise that there's a connection between those two thoughts.
Often, when I attend a party or function, I see a veggie tray. I try to load up on fresh veggies - I will always take grape tomatoes and cucumber slices. I can eat my weight in those. I never take carrots or pepper slices, sometimes I'll take broccoli. This week, for whatever reason, I decided to try red pepper slices.
They were DELICIOUS.
Moral of this tale? Sometimes, you have to try something new - as I tell my kids, and it's really true - taste buds change.

Up for beets yet? (kidding!)

My tastes have changed drastically over the years. ten years ago I wouldn't have even considered sushi, now it's my top pick for date night. Then there's V8 (regular old vegetable kind). I try it every year or so. I still don't like it. :)

I try really hard to be adventurous, and have discovered some really great things along the way. Escargot? Not one of them, no matter what my mother-in-law thinks. :) Now, if I could just get my children to try new things...*sigh*

My husband and I are trying out an exercise program. Have you ever heard of couch to 5k? I decided I wanted to try it( it appeared to be in doable chunks and weeks that i could do). And much to my surprise my husband said he would try it with me. A little background here, my husband is significantly overweight, so this is a very very big deal! We are now going on week 3 of the program and today was hard! But I remembered your success as I was thinking today and that was encouraging.
We are blogging it, oursecretplan.blogspot.com and Id love it if you could sneak over and comment. YOu know how we all love comments :) Its a secret because we want to surprise our kids by running a 5k if we succeed thru the 9 week program. Especially our CC runner who has begged us to run with him! The goal is to have him run a race and have us start behind him(so he doesnt see us and there is no way we will catch the speed demon lol) and then surprise him at the finish line. So right now we are blogging anonymously! Im Mrs. F, for Mrs. fatman running .
Thanks~
