My kid had to do an essay on "I am" and it got me thinking. Who am I, and how would I answer that prompt?
I'm the person who mopped the floor on her hands and knees today and decided that henceforth, no one shall enter the house at all. We will all have to live outside. We are disgusting pigs.
i'm the introverted extrovert who will go out of her way to make you the macaroni and cheese you love and bring it to your house for a holiday, all because you mentioned it was your favorite one night six years ago. But I won't stay to talk to you because nerves.
I am the person who has no filter and says what is on my mind, which can be good and can be hilarious (especially if I've been drinking, holla!)
but also can be really, really awful and leave long lasting repercussions.
I'm the person who likes to be in bed at 9 so she can read for an hour - or, let's be real, read until she drops the book on her face, which is about 22 minutes lately.
I'm the person who can (and does) listen to the John Williams channel on Pandora all the live long day, even though her daughter says the music gives her anxiety.
I'm the person with four recipes open in tabs on her computer, so while she's working, she can think about cooking. The cool thing? I make most all of the recipes that intrigue me - which is why I made apple cider caramels twice this month already.
The person who makes her family pull over on the side of the road so she can take a picture of the way the light dapples through the tree.
And takes pictures of pictures in the art museum.
I went on a trip with a group of musicians, and it was awesome and amazing, but I was the only non musician on the trip. The only one who can't read music, the only one whose brain just - builds a wall of fortress around itself so not one shred of musical knowledge can enter. But I realized something about myself - I am a really, really good judge of people. And what sometimes might be thought of as quiet is really just me studying the heck out of the people I'm with and really figuring them out. Which is kind of cool all on it's own and possibly alarming to the folks I'm studying.
If you've read this far, I want to apologize to you for my lack of writing lately. I've had a lot to say - alas, when I do not? - but several things have been roadblocking me. One of my friends asked me if I was going to participate in Na Blog Posting Month - NaBloPoMo, in which the participant posts on the old blog every.single.day in the month of November - and I laughed A LOT. Hi, no.
But my daughter gave me this for my birthday - which was a week ago already, how is THAT possible - and I thought I'd take a whack at it. I miss writing and if I can't write about my day to day - and don't want to share a bajillion pictures I've taken - I can do this.
Gorgeous photo of the tree! Glad to see a new post and yeah, sometimes life just rushes towards us and then whoosh, it rushes right by us!

I have a similar book, thanks for the reminder to use it! Also - how nice your daughter knows you so well.
