My son is a professional musician. He trained at the Cleveland Institute of
Music. Classically trained but plays beatbox flute. I can’t read music either!

I've heard it referred to as "seasons" in life before, which is nice but does tend to lead to thinking "winter is coming" lol. I think I will adopt key changes instead.

I played several musical instruments myself, but one of my adult kids is a choral musician (she sings - and she also teaches middle school choir). She turned me on to the composer Eric Whitacre when she sang one of his pieces in high school. You can find his virtual choirs on YouTube - he had people around the world sing their parts and then put them together. It's really a gift to learn things from our kids, isn't it?

About Me

  • Carmen Staicer is a whirlwind of energy and execution who rarely sleeps and loves coffee and happens to have six outstanding awesome kids. A concentration of asthma, food allergies, spectrum disorders and learning disabilities means that she has learned more than she ever thought possible and knows less than she ever could imagine. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, boxing (she has her Black Belt in Muay Thai), rowing, sleeping, exploring coffee shops, homeless ministry, photography, and cooking.
