I was sent a copy of this game on Nintendo DS to facilitate my review. I was not compensated for the review and all opinions expressed are my own.
Have a great time at the carnival!
The Nintendo DS version of the new Carnival Games, offered by 2K Play, is a complete and total blast. They had so much fun with this game that it was hard to get them to share. (For the record, this game is offered in Nintendo Ds and Wii versions.)
From the press release:
“There were so many fun and exciting midway games that did not make it into the original Carnival Games, that the time was right to completely upgrade the experience to New Carnival Games,” said Steve Lux, vice president of business development for 2K Play. “With family night growing in importance around the country, we also expanded New Carnival Games’ multiplayer feature so that up to four players can compete in each of the games.”
New Carnival Games for Wii features over 30 all-new games and attractions, including Pitch-A-Plate, Bottle Stand-Up, Fish Bowl Bounce, Gold Rush Alley Ball and the always frightful Haunted House. In addition, skilled gamers will earn tickets that can be redeemed for over 300 colorful in-game prizes, such as Moon Rocks, Eye-Bots, Decoder Rings and Wacky Wearables™ ranging from a Walrus Mask to Dragonfly Wings.
So, what did the family think? The entire game was pronounced a blast, with the following games called out for exceptional fun:
Wild West Showdown: A shooting game inside a booth, this highly accurate stylus driven game invites you to tap targets in a shooting gallery to see who can earn the highest score.
Clown Bonk: Similar to Whack-A-Mole, you smack clowns that pop their heads up out of holes with the stylus. If you hit a pie that pops up, then your game is over.
Loud Mouth: My kids LOVED this one, because all you do is scream. You literally scream at the game when it lands on a high number. Not much skill involved, but they love yelling.
This was a game that was argued over, passed around and bartered for. I liked the multi player option, which allowed different groups of my kids to play the game together. It still didn't make it easier to share, lol.
New Carnival Games has a suggested retail price of $49.99 for the Wii MotionPlus bundle, $39.99 for Wii and $29.99 for DS. The games are rated E for Everyone by the ESRB.
